I have applied for a place for dd1 at a secondary in our catchment area for Sept 09. We hear wether she has got in on March 3rd.

What happens though if i were to move to a new area between say April and Sept ?? Presumably any secondary schools I then looked at would be full in year 7 as they will have just allocated spaces.

Does anyone have any experience of this and how you sort it out ?

I wouldn't assume that to be the case, my friends son was told he'd failed the 11+ by 1 point, he then applied to another school which was told was full.
Then literally on the 3rd September they received calls from the Grammar school asking him to come in for interview and offered a place and also the one they were told was full.
I guess other people didn't take up places at both.
