We applied under rule 2 'medical and social need' to attend a particular school. We have just recieved a letter saying our application was successful and he will be prioritised under rule 2 for the school. Does this mean we are in?

I think so SGK, what does it say at the end of letter?

SparklyGothKat · 22/01/2009 11:27

'as you will be aware secondary places are allocated on the 2nd March 2009. You will recieve a letter at that time comfirming Ds1's allocated school, if you applied online and requested email notification this will also be send on the same day'

I have been so worried about this for months.. I thought we would be declined under rule 2, and DS1 would end up at a school which isn't suitable, so can relax now.....

Hey great news
The letter means that he is category 2 in priority for allocating places.
Category 1 is usually 'looked after children' (children in foster care or children's homes).
So if your school has 200 spaces and 200 looked after children apply, then ds1 won't get a place
Otherwise he's in

thanks, I am so excited... It really is a good school, and one of the best in the area, we would have no chance of getting him in there if he didn't have a disability. Its the nearest PNI school and I am over the moon that he will go there.

spoke to someone yesterday at the Education dept. and was told that if the letter says we have been successful (which it does) then Ds1 is defo. in!!!!!!
