Yay! Glad it went well Apparently DD is organised.... me thinks an alien child must attend school leaving the scatty day dreamer that is my DD at the school gates!

DD got her Science project back - the one she typed and typed and typed for and came joint second in the class she got a 6B and is soooooooooooo laid back about it where as I was OMG well done you! I can't believe the change in her. This time last year her yr6 teacher was painting a very bleak picture of her potential High School career and now her motivation and enjoyment of school is amazing.

roisin · 05/03/2009 17:56

Hey well done everybody. I'm amazed at all these well-organised yr7s: such creatures are very thin on the ground at the school I work at

It's great to see them all still motivated and enthusiastic about learning isn't it? And so settled in at secondary school after such a few months?!

ds1 gets an academic progress report at the end of next week. But I expect it will be mostly just statistics rather than comments/feedback.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/03/2009 18:01

hooray too for magenta's dd !!

Well done Magenta's DD! 6B is terrific!
And well done Bellavita's DS!
We still don't know when DD's parent evening is, but she came home and told us what was going to be in her report. Apparently they were given them to check in PSHE class today. She says she is getting As for effort in everything and 1s for achievement in everything apart from 2s in PE, Tech and German. If that is so, I am proud.
I suppose if she had done less well she would have had time to break it to us gently.

bellavita · 05/03/2009 20:15

Well done to all

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/03/2009 11:32

beautiful day here..
Living with a willy book has just arrived from Amazon for ds, so have left it in his room,so he can look at it, or not- I don't think I'll draw attention to it though..what do you think ? It looks a bit advanced to me, about sex and things like 'jock itch' eek...

OP posts:
bellavita · 06/03/2009 11:54

Lovely day here too

No, I think it is best not to draw attention to the book - let him have a look through at his own pace and then he can either put it to the back of a drawer if embarrassed or carry on reading it if interested..

Think DS must permanently have "jock itch" as his hands are always down there when he was watching tv!!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/03/2009 11:59

I'm always saying 'fgs get your hands out of your pockets !'

bellavita · 06/03/2009 12:05

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/03/2009 18:31

Were their any awkward Q's MAS?

DD enjoyed her trip to Manchester even though the set off was delayed for some reason for an hour.

bellavita · 10/03/2009 09:48

blimey magenta - you are up and about early..

Glad your DD enjoyed her trip, DS did too although he was grumpy when he got back and looked a little pale.

Oh yes MAS, any progress?

MargaretMountford · 10/03/2009 09:58

good to hear bellavita 's ds and magenta's dd had good trips ! Ds asked whether he was a virgin and what masturbation was - I hope I was cool and as if Iam not bothered by such things !! He hasn't really paid much more attention to it since... poor boy has a rotten cold - he stayed to have his singing lesson after school yesterday -normally they're in class times - and his teacher said she was surprised he was in school - I felt very guilty - he has gone again today as he seemed better, sniffly and cough-y but no temp - I'm always one for soldiering on (unlike dh) but perhaps I should have wrapped him up for at least one day :-(

Polgara2 · 10/03/2009 10:39

Well dd1 has taken her lamb's heart in (quadruple bagged) today! In fact she will probably have 'done the deed' by now .

Unbelieveable faff getting the thing though, most of the butcher had sold out by the time I got to them! In the end my friend got one for me but it was touch and go! I don't supposed everyone will have managed to get one but dd1 informed me this morning that a couple of the children were bringing 3 in! Why said I? Don't know - probably because they want to be clever she says .

DD2 desperately wanted to see it but dd1 wouldn't unwrap it to look before she really had to.

MAS - hope your ds is feeling a better soon. It's always difficult to decide with a cold whether they are well enough to go in or not isn't it.

MargaretMountford · 10/03/2009 17:08

eew about the lambs heart !! (and your new kitchen on top of all that too !)
ds is much better thank you - perky and cheery but sniffly !

MargaretMountford · 11/03/2009 16:24

why are 11 yr olds sarky and rude to their loving mothers ?
especially when the mother is asking questions which are to do with the 11 yr old and might well benefit him,as well as washing his muddy PE kit grrr

bellavita · 11/03/2009 16:29

because as my dear mother keeps telling me, it is their hormones!!!!!

bellavita · 11/03/2009 16:30

mine walked in 10 mins ago, said "hey" through the door (I am sat in the living room), dumped his bag in the hall and promptly went upstairs...

MargaretMountford · 11/03/2009 16:38
Grin
bellavita · 11/03/2009 16:48

and now their is Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols blaring out from upstairs

MargaretMountford · 11/03/2009 16:50

arf... mine has gone round the corner to see his grandparents but must be back at 5 as it's parents consultation evening !

bellavita · 11/03/2009 16:50

their there - have got useless typing hands again today afer doing an extra waitressing shift (tis carrying loads of heavy plates that does it, also gives you a mushed up brain!)

roisin · 11/03/2009 17:12

ds1 had a real strop at the weekend over something and nothing and both dh and I were incensed at his attitude, behaviour and generally being a brat.

So he's on new regime atm: All privileges withdrawn (computer time, TV, snacks, pocket money and being allowed to stay home unaccompanied for short periods, etc!)
He has to be charming, pleasant and polite to all members of the family at all times.
He has to sort all his school stuff out himself, keep his room tidy and do one chore every day.
Oh and he's also been kicked out of the large bedroom/playroom into the tiny room with the bunkbeds.

So far he's doing really well under the new regime.

Not having other distractions means he sorts himself out and gets on with homework without being prompted and persuaded and cajoled. And he's also getting more sleep which helps too. He's been a pleasure to live with this week!

So much so that from today he will be allowed 30 mins on the computer each day (as long as he keeps it up!)

Dragon - me?!

MargaretMountford · 11/03/2009 17:13

what kind of food do you serve ? am imagining you in a pinny carrying heavy plates !

MargaretMountford · 11/03/2009 17:14

hey well done roisin !! I admire your resolve - I gave ds a stern talking to.
