Hi - please help. DS has been playing rugby all term, hasd just infomred me that next term is football instead, and the football trials are TOMORROW. The boots can take either rugby or football studs - does he need to swap them over tonight (lovely job - they are caked in mud....), or can he play football with the rugby studs in? Do not wnat him to get there tomorrow to be told he has the wrong type of studs - if they even check, tho' he is the concientious type that would blurt it out...

This is the kind of thing I wouldn't give a rat's arse about but DS prolly would get sent back.

Can't imagine they are different...?

I think the football ones are slightly longer arn't they?
the rubgy boys can't play with football studs because they are dangerous. But I can't see it would be a problem the other way round.

But I may of course be talking total bollocks

ShrinkingViolet · 11/12/2008 16:14

I thought rugby studs were the longer ones?

Freckle · 11/12/2008 16:21

I think you can play football in rugby studs but not the other way round. Something to do with the fact that you are likely to be trodden on in rugby but not in football, so the rugby studs are safer.

see. I knew I was most likely on the road to bollocks.

But I do think that the safety issue is with rugby IYSWIM - as per freckles comment

Many thanks everyone - his teacher confirmed re rugby ones okay for football but not the other way round ( and avoid 'blades' 'cos they are 'lethal') - so to joint prize to Pagwatch & Freckle , and yes I probably should change my name, but I am kinda fond of it now... and pathetically hoping Robin Hood will come back so I can perv over GoG in leather my children can enjoy one of theri favourite programs...
