How many schools did you visit or consider ?

We have a grammar school option and one is very clearly better than the other for our eldest DD and the others will do well wherever they go, however if she doesn't pass I'm not too happy with the state options or indeed the private ones.
So would it be ridiculous to move house for senior school ?

nope - we are in grammar area too - hubby and I are both grammar teachers and our DS1 is unlikely to pass 11 plus so we are thinking of taking him out of his state primary and putting him in indie school (in year 5) so that he can go straight thru - is going to cost a bomb tho!

We have been around 3 indie schools - won't look at our local sec modern ones tho - i have taught in some of them and know what they are like!

We do have three, I'm convinced that the housing market is stuffed for a good ten years so am thinking that my savings would pay for DD's education and the house we currently have could then be sold to put us back in the same position we're in now when the market has recovered again.
TBH i'm not sure any ordinary state school will get the best out of her, she's hard bloody work at the best of times and will just get lost. At least at a grammar they except more of the children and she may step up to the mark.

I looked round 3 schools thinking DD1 had failed the 11plus(she thought she had really mucked up a paper).
2 of them were really nice but we are not near, the other we are near, but differnt country and it was depressing.
However dd1 has passed the 11 plus and I have put the local grammar down first, next town grammar next and the 2 schools I like for third and forth.
