Home Tuition, I'm thinking of doing it so how do I start?

I am a secondary teacher and thinking of starting doing home tuition. What should I charge and what exactly do poeple expect? I am going to contact the local high schools to find out which exam board and sylabus they are doing so I know what the pupils should know.
Do I need to be CRB checked? Will people come to my home? This would be more convenient as some weeks my husband is away and I have no one to look after the DC.
Any advice greatly received.

Shameless bump.

Advertise in the local paper? Is there an agency that you could join? Ring a few tutors yourself as a 'customer' to check out prices in your area.

You can't get CRB checked unless you're registered with an agency. That might be a good way to start, anyway.

People round here charge £15-£25 per hour. Most tutors expect pupils to come to them. If you travel to other people's homes, you can make a charge for that.
