SATS results...still waiting, How do we get them?

Are they supposed to be coming through the post or do the kids get them at the start of the new term? Does anyone know?

It depends whether your school have received the papers yet, whether they all have been marked & the results uploaded and even whether they think they are accurate.

Ours came back the day before the end of term so only time for a cursory look but it was clear that the marking was PANTS. The exam team were prepared to work into their holidays, print up a sheet for every child and post them out; instead the papers are boxed to go back & the Head has refused to accept them. There is a possibility that the pupils will never get their SATs exam marks, but will have to rely on the more reliable SATs Teacher Assessment.

dd1's school got theirs back either on the last day of term, or the day before.

The first one checked had the same person getting 98% in one test and 2% in another test (both English) apparently, so they were sent back as being completely crappily marked.

dd1's school has said that they will post the results out in the holidays.

We got maths and science last Friday I don't expect English until they go back.

Heated do you think the maths and science could have been wrongly marked or is it just English?

The problems afflict all three test subjects - English, maths and science - but are said to be worst in English.

Normally the maths is well marked; heck even I've helped dh mark his class practice ones, so if I can do it...

It's partly down to poor marking in English (they have trouble getting anyone qualified to do it) but also markers found they were spending more time trying to upload the data than mark the papers, not all the children were listed on the database and the papers arrived too late for the half term which is when traditionally markers who are teachers mark.

Poor ds has worked really hard. I am furious. I know as a teacher they don't mean anything, but as a parent I am livid. Ds always performs better in exams, and now in all likleyhood we'll never know.

He put in so much frigging effort, I think he deserves compensation for it

Must admit I am cross on my year 9s behalf, a whole terms's worth of effort just not recognised.

Our school (secondary) are supposed to be mailing them out to student's homes when they finally arrived. (We had nothing definite at the end of term, but hints from County that Maths/Science were almost complete. No sign of English though.)

My boys' primary got theirs the day before they broke up. Generally students were just given a level, but ds1 asked (and was told) his actually marks and sublevels.

I know what you mean because ds1 really tried his hardest, and it was important for him to have a tangible indication of his success. (He'll never get any medals for sport, bless him!)

Any idea who I can complain to? Ofsted? I really want to register formal complaint about it, but don't know who with.

No, not Ofsted, they are to do with school standards. I believe the buck stops with The Secretary for Education, Ed Balls, and the QCA - they are in charge & gave the multi-million pound contract to ETS.
