Cheltenham Ladies' College?

Hi Mumsnetters,

I'm new around here so please tell me if I've posted in the wrong place or have made other mistakes!

My Dh and I are moving to the Gloucestershire/Cotswold area and we have been checking all of the usual things such as local schools. Dd2 has seen the Ladies' College website and she's certain that that's where she wants to go. I've heard of the school but I don't know anything about its reputation. Is there anyone here who knows anything more about it?

I don't live anywhere near it so don't have insider knowledge, but it certainly does have a very good reputation. A friend of mine went just for the 6th form and had a great time.

There were some television programmes recently about girls making new friends as they start secondary school, and one of the episodes was about girls going to CLC. Sorry I can't remember the exact name of the programme, but you might be able to get hold of a copy of it. If I can find it I'll get back to you.

There is quite a tough entrance examination I think, and is very expensive. There are scholarships available. Is one of, if not the,top girls' schools in the country. Mainly boarding school, but also day girls. School is in the centre of Cheltenham with boarding houses etc scattered around.

Phone them up and ask for a prospectus. In fact you can probably request one online.

I've knew a few CLC girls when I lived there and they certainly knew how to have a good time!

I saw that program foofi - the day girl had more difficulty settling than the boarders.
