We currently live in central London but are thinking of moving out, probably Essex since DH can commute into Liverpool St. Am thinking of Chelmsford, any advice on schools and the place in general? My DCs are still young but when we move we want to stay put until they finish school. Many thanks for any tips!

Hi some very good secondary schools in Chelmsford. Look at The Boswells School. If you moved into catchment for Tyrells or Perryfields Primary, excellent schools, you should be ok for Boswells. Also 2 grammar schools if children high performers!
Plenty to do in Chelmsford for all ages, easily accessable to London, and of course the coast, Walton, Frinton, and Southend!
There is only one secondary school in Chelmsford undersubscribed. I like living here.

I agree that Boswells seems to be a good school. Also Moulsham High School and Great Baddow High School seem to be good comprehensives. If you want a catholic school then Saint John Payne is very good. The two grammars, Chelmsford County High School for Girls and King Edward VI Grammar School (boys) regularly come in the top 5 out of the whole country in the league tables.

I live in Chelmsford and would agree with the others. I'm not from here so don't have first hand experience of the schools but they have a very good reputation and reports.
