Henrietta Barnett School – social life, happiness and overall experience
Hello everyone,
I'd really appreciate some honest feedback from current HBS parents.
While HBS is obviously an outstanding academic school, I'm increasingly wondering whether it's the right environment for my daughter. We are within 50-60 mins public transport journey.
My main concerns are around happiness, friendships and social life. With girls commuting from all over London, how easy is it for them to build close friendships and meet up after school or at weekends? Do they actually have a social life outside school?
I'm also curious about opportunities to socialise with boys, given that it's an all-girls school. Do the girls naturally develop mixed friendship groups through activities, clubs or social events?
How intense is the academic pressure? Is homework manageable, and do the girls have time for hobbies, friendships and simply enjoying their teenage years? Most importantly, is the school genuinely nurturing and supportive, or does it feel like an academic hothouse?
Of course, academic achievement matters, but raising a happy, confident, sociable and well-rounded young woman matters even more to me.
I'd be very grateful for genuine experiences, including any downsides, as we're trying to make an informed decision about whether HBS would be the right fit for our daughter.
Thank you!
