Brit School Travels

We really liked The BRIT School when we visited and are considering it for Year 10 entry.
My only concern is the journey there and back, particularly the surrounding area and how safe it feels for children travelling independently.

Parking also seems practically impossible!
We’d be travelling from the Bromley area, so I’d love to hear from any parents whose children make a similar journey. Have they found it safe and manageable, especially during the darker winter months?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you!

The area is not unsafe. It's being gentrified and it will be full of students during the day.

I live in Croydon and wouldn’t say that area is particularly unsafe.

Ok good to know! Since she may be travelling alone as a 14-year-old girl, I just wanted to be sure. There are parts of Bromley that are safer than other parts also.

I don't know the area but the majority of 11yos in London travel to school on their own by bus, train or tube.

That's true in other areas too but they are more likely to be using public transport in London (I mean rather than walking to school). My DC walked to school (small city) but plenty of their friends got a bus actually.

Does your DD not travel by herself to her current school @Giftedsleeper ?

Yes she does. However the journey is somewhat very different. Which is why I am asking.

My daughter has found the area to be absolutely fine and it feels very residential. As someone said, it’s full of students at both ends of the day so she’d be unlikely to be alone anyway.

The area is safe and Brit kids travel ftom everywhere
