Year 7, DS was happy at school with no issues. Year 8 has not started well.
They are streamed for a few subjects like maths, all other subjects are all with the same teaching group. DS hates his teaching group this year.
There is low level disruptive behaviour in lessons that he didnt have last year. Things like a child nudging the table out into the aisle a bit more each time the teacher is distracted, (when my DS is sharing the table), kids sending pens round the room from table to table when teacher not looking, humming the same song vv quietly.....really minor things that would seem petty to bring up.
The other issue is that in last years group there were some very bright kids, and they all seemed to feed off each other with ideas and input. This years group are very quiet and often DS is the only one contributing and then shuts up because he feels he's talked enough.
In a couple of subjects like IT I can see where each child is up to in the unit (not sure how this is allowed tbh) and DS does seem to be a lot further along.
I'm not sure how much of this is a year 8 'thing' due to hormones, kids getting comfortable as they arent the new kids anymore etc and if he was in any teaching group it would be the same, or if there is an issue with this particular teaching group.
(He still really enjoys the lessons where he is streamed, and doesnt see disruption in these classes).
I have asked if I can have a chat with his form teacher & would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
