Hi everyone,

I’m starting this thread so we can support one another as we prepare our children to sit the 11+ exam next year.

I’ve titled the thread with a focus on Kent and Bexley, as those are the two tests we’ll be sitting.

I’d be particularly keen to hear experiences, insights, and lessons learnt from parents who have been through or are currently navigating the process for these specific areas.

That being said, everyone is very welcome to join in, no matter which 11+ exams you are prepping for.

Looking forward to sharing tips, resources, and a bit of moral support along the way!

We’re still pretty early on in the process. During Year 4, we did a bit of self-study at home using CGP books to get familiar with the core topics, and we’re just about to start proper tutoring now.

I’ve heard a few parents mention that we ought to be keeping an eye on the change of test provider for Bexley, but to be completely honest, I don't fully understand what the real impact of that switch will be for us yet!

If anyone has any insight on what changes to expect or how it might affect our prep focus, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Where is everyone else at with their journey so far?

DD will be sitting the Bexley test next year. Not worth us doing the Kent test as we’re too far out of catchment. She’s done a bit of easy tutoring last year (2 hours once a week), and we’re continuing with that and doing mini-mocks once a month. I’m trying to keep a level head and stand by my view that if she needs more than that to get in, it’s not the right school for her.
