Kent Test 2026

Let’s discuss the Kent Test 2026, anything from Headteacher’s/parents’ appeal to standardised and raw scores to info on various grammars and catchments, logistics etc.

Remember you can reply to the email you receive on results day to ask for your child’s raw scores.

*bear in mind there may still be others taking the same papers right up until the end of the academic year (eg those that move into Kent at a later date) so no discussions on the actual questions themselves would be appreciated.

Good luck to all!

It’s very hard to know. Most DC here found the English paper difficult, so I thought the pass mark for that paper might be lower. But I understand the pass mark for every paper is higher this year. Usually it’s 106-108 per paper, but understand it’s 111 for each paper this year.

Can I ask where you got that information about pass marks from?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 13/10/2026 16:12

There’s stuff on the 11+ forum (Kent) - but generally, I’d advise staying away from it (based on my experience with 4 children). It tends to get a little… intense over there.

It is hearsay, but from a primary school teacher.

Namechange67542342 · 13/10/2026 16:41

Sorry, but this is utterly ridiculous. The overall threshold has been at 332 (and individual thresholds no higher than 109, mostly 106-108) for the past five years.

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies Thank you for the warning; I should have heeded it! 😬

I’ve seen 111 in each section and either 345 or 348 on Facebook too so can only assume it is a fairly accurate leak. It would tie in with a significant number of children in our school that took it saying the test was easy this year. The source of a lot of worry for me until results day now 😬

How is everyone? I’ve found this week so hard. The wait feels endless. Do you know what time on Thursday results come out?

I feel you.
Mums from past years have received emails as early as midday although KCC says email from 4pm onwards.

newmum1976 · 14/10/2026 13:12

Does anybody know what sort of advantage it is being born in late July? Does it make much difference to the score?

It's been rough hasn't it. I cannot wait to just know the outcome now, I hate that feeling of limbo. As above, emails will apparently be from 4pm. And that was true for my oldest a couple of years ago. It was pretty much 4pm on the dot. How is your child feeling? Sending out all the positive vibes ❤

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 14/10/2026 13:20

I have been through this 4 times, and remember the stress. But now my children are all young adults, I know just how unimportant it is. I know many children who went to great universities (RGs, even Oxbridge, medicine, etc.) who didn’t pass. And conversely, children who didn’t do particularly well who did pass.

And in my neck of the woods (East Kent), a lot of children get in on non-qual appeal, whilst other children join the grammars in Year 8.

It’s stressful - but please remember that it’s not the end of the story.

Rinse123 · 14/10/2026 13:44

DC is just as stressed as me she just wants to join her big sister at Grammar but I do agree whatever happens she will be ok just wish I knew so we could move forward x

I’ve read some standardisation explanation before (but forgot the source now) that it will add points to the younger child and no deduction on those born in Sept or Oct.

And the younger child from May onwards may gain between extra 1-3 points depending on the cohort performance.

MochiMochiMochi · 14/10/2026 13:56

Hello, Joining in partly to give my stress somewhere to go! Hope you are all doing ok.

We are currently out of area, and are moving into Kent later this year. We are moving to an area where the grammars are (apparently) often undersubscribed, which gives me some hope.

Our decision to move house came quite late in the timeline which means our DC didn't really have much preparation for the test. I feel very bad about that at the moment. She is bright and academic, but I have no sense of how much that counts compared to tutoring, preparation, and so on.

Having read the comments above about books being taken from class potentially for headteacher appeals.... does this process only apply to Kent primaries or is it possible that my DC primary head will also have the results, I wonder? Does anyone know?

I'm aware that all this wondering is really just busy work for the mind as I will actually know for certain tomorrow... aaaaahhh i want to know now! haven't mentioned that tomorrow is results day to my daughter - being out of area means there's no chatter amongst her class - so that's some relief as at least she's not having to stress and if its bad news, I’ve got time to think about how to approach it.

Rinse123 · 14/10/2026 14:22

Whilst we are close to the school we are on the boundary and technically out of Borough - our headteachers have the results the same as Kent ones I would imagine any child who sat would receive their children’s results to enable a HT appeal.

Spiderhead84 · 14/10/2026 14:44

@MochiMochiMochi We live in Kent but kids still go to a Greenwich borough primary school. My headteacher said she hasn’t received the Kent results but that she was expecting to get them as she got them last year. She didn’t however receive the Bexley 11+ results. I read somewhere that only Kent primary school children get the privilege of being eligible for a headteacher’appeal if their score is near the boundary cut off score. Perhaps this is why my headteacher hasn’t received the results?

Tomorrow can’t come soon enough- I wish they released all the results on the same day! The anticipation is so mind consuming and I have a million other things I need to be thinking about lol!

Rinse123 · 14/10/2026 15:02

Hmm that’s odd Kent C.C said HT’s had them (didn’t specify Kent only) and primary said they couldn’t discuss anything as confidential until results day but didn’t say they hadn’t received just said couldn’t discuss. Our primary is in Bexley.

Thank you. I do appreciate that in terms of academics.

Though my added worry is that my DD is ND and the single-sex grammar really does seem to be the best for her; they are renowned for their nurturing environment.

Moreover, I reached out to their SENCO and those at the two comps we are considering (she has just been issued with an EHCP) and the grammar SENCO was the only one to 1) respond personally and 2) meet with me to discuss DD's needs.

Plus, the EHCP means that we can't use the normal appeal process 😬

Workingsinmom · 14/10/2026 16:33

If anyone is interested in some numbers, I found this info about September 2025 intake showing the breakdown of all the Kent schools PAN, preferences received on CAF and you can gauge their over subscription numbers once results are out tomorrow.

Only 24 hours to go, hang in there!

What does the G assessed blue line mean please?

What does the G assessed blue line mean please?

That it’s a grammar school.

Workingsinmom · 14/10/2026 17:45

Purpleviolet589 · 14/10/2026 17:32

That it’s a grammar school.

Correct. There are 2 rows for Grammar schools and the numbers in G assessed are those who met the minimum score whereas there are still others who are not meeting the cutoff 332 (or minimum per subject) still placing that school as their preferred option.

These are probably trying a (last) long shot and then hoping their appeal will be successful?

Rinse123 · 14/10/2026 19:03

That makes sense thank you. Couldn’t understand why 2 entries for those Grammars. Do you think the results will be on the portal earlier than an email? At the moment it’s just blank and won’t load on applications but I’m hoping this may change tomorrow.

Is there a portal? Thought it was email only.
