Kent Test 2026

Let’s discuss the Kent Test 2026, anything from Headteacher’s/parents’ appeal to standardised and raw scores to info on various grammars and catchments, logistics etc.

Remember you can reply to the email you receive on results day to ask for your child’s raw scores.

*bear in mind there may still be others taking the same papers right up until the end of the academic year (eg those that move into Kent at a later date) so no discussions on the actual questions themselves would be appreciated.

Good luck to all!

@Araminta1004 I think you’re right- well that’’s how I’ve always understood it to be the case. A percentage of in county places are protected. I’m in county for Kent, but really do t understand the obsession with OOC kids getting super high scores and therefore rightfully being awarded grammar school places regardless of distance. The OOC are competing with other OOC for less places with a much higher boundary score set. Why is this unfair to in county kids - or is the argument that in county should just have a right to all the grammar school places because they live closer, regardless of score? Surely that would defeat the point of a selective school system.

Parent home coaching isn't as simple as finding the time or motivation to do so, I tried help my DD with non-verbal reasoning but struggled with most of them myself so not sure how I was meant to "tutor" her in that!

If you live locally then you contribute towards council tax of the school and local area so it is a touch unfair if you can't get a school place because people in Manchester decide to come down purely for school. I think they'll have to change the rules at some point to have proof of living for 6 months or more in catchment and having to join a waiting list for ooc.
