Are there any uses to learning Italian?

Yes - to travelling but also in my work as so many colleagues I work with / come across are Italian.

It's great if you want to understand opera, Latin, have a pretty good idea what anyone from Romania is saying on the tube... or live/work/visit Italy.

It's also, imo, much easier to learn than Spanish. It's entirely phonetic for a start.

Was probably the easiest language I've learned (French, German, Italian, Spanish, Latin & Ancient Greek)

Can I just ask - are you an English lady? I am from South Asia, living in the UK, so I found Spanish easier than Italian and I was surprised by you saying Italian is the easiest language. Maybe where you are from influences how hard/easy a language is for you.

Yes English.

I am bilingual in Italian, reasonably fluent in French, and can read a newspaper, ask directions in the rest.

I found Spanish the hardest to learn to speak and write.

German is the easiest to speak for Brits as it's the same muscles. My face aches for a few days when I go to Italy!

Lol, I don't get it. Why does your face ache when you go to Italy?

Because the muscles I use to speak Italian and pronounce it correctly are very different from the ones I use to speak English.

Because I speak both to mother tongue standard, I can switch completely from one to the other. And it's physically noticeable.

Okay peeps! I am in a dilemma... Should I learn Spanish or Italian? I find Italian hard- granted I only took 1 lesson online in a website - Preply. Then, I started Italian in Duolingo- found that I am getting confused between the Spanish I learned and the Italian..lol, going dulala thinking about it..
