We're looking to buy our family home and leave Crouch End, where 4–5 bed houses are out of reach for us. It's not an ideal time to buy, but we've been stuck in a flat with cladding issues, so this move has been two years in the making.
There's very little on the market at the moment. We'd have loved to land in Ashmole's (very small) catchment in Southgate, but unless something comes up, we're now looking at Winchmore Hill. Private school isn't an option for us, so our catchment secondary would most likely be Winchmore School.
Our son is a toddler, so we're thinking long term. The results don't look great, and there's not much online about the school's culture, leadership, behaviour and so on. I can see the Head has been in post for a while.
Does anyone have direct, recent experience of the school as a parent? We know schools can change a lot over the years, but with stamp duty so eye-watering we may not be able to move twice, so we'd like to go in with our eyes open.
