Off to leavers graduation soon! Cant believe its all done. Usually hear from dd to tell how the exam went but assume shes celebrating and not upset over the exam! :-(

MabelsBeats · 15/06/2026 11:28

And she’s done! So pleased and relieved that it’s over, I think it will take time for her to decompress though, it’s been so intense.

Beachforever · 15/06/2026 11:30

Anyone with any news about physics Edexcel IGCSE?

DD was finished at 9:45 but probably has her head in FM so hasn’t messaged to say how she got on.

I’m just hoping it wasn’t as random as the other 2 sciences.

dd was reasonably happy - it was much more of a typical iGCSE paper. Nothing like the chemistry one.

Caddycat · 15/06/2026 11:34

DD just called after AQA triple higher. She said it was just ok, worst of the 6 science exams. She's a little sad that it didn't end on a high for science, but she has spanish tomorrow so hopefully will put this paper behind her. She has a spanish revision session this afternoon. Well done to all the DCs who are done! Good luck to the FM for this afternoon.

Oh thank you! That’s a relief to hear.

Ursulla42 · 15/06/2026 11:38

Another one here bailed out of prep for tomorrow Spanish. Not done a jot for it so had really stressed she should go to the schools extra revision this afternoon. Gone off to her mates instead. Nothing I could do but remind her of how she might feel opening the envelope on 20th August. Oh well they are young adults now. And we can’t make them!

waitingquietly · 15/06/2026 11:50

DS2 is home - edexcel combined science physics was better than expected .

He's totted up the hours of revision he did since study leave on the 1st May - 87 hours in total . He predicted grades for himself before he started and has just done it again now .. he has himself passing everything so fingers crossed . On the PS5 and out with his friends tomorrow after watching lots of football .

Good luck to those who still have a couple to go

Thank you to all posters for the support and company … fingers crossed for everyone

ItsPickleRick · 15/06/2026 12:00

He’s done!

Feeling very emotional today, I can’t believe he’s left school! He said the exam was “fine” and promptly got changed and went out with his friends.

They really don’t realise that these years were some of the best of their lives, spending all day with their friends, and after the summer everything will be different for them.

I do understand it’s not the same for all, my other child is home educated due to SEN and will never experience this.

coffeeagogo · 15/06/2026 12:02

DD back for lunch before the final hurdle of Further Maths. Very happy with OCR Physics, said that there was a lot on waves that she spent a lot of time on yesterday when she finally emerged from her bed. She is hoping for a 6 in Physics, which alongside Biology is her weakest subject. We are going out to celebrate this evening and buy makeup for Thursday’s prom. Just one more to go……

3GoldenLamps · 15/06/2026 12:05

DS is done! And feeling flat after the physics was a low point for him. He did AQA Combined GCSEs- he thinks there was a typo for the final question? Did anyone else think that? He's worried he misunderstood completely and I am telling him to put it all behind him.

He's quite low and says he feels 'empty'. I have suggested pizza and the cinema but he's flopped for now.

Nottogetapenny · 15/06/2026 12:08

My grandson, did his last GCSE today, I’m so proud of him!

So many exams, I’m so glad he can relax and enjoy doing all the sports he loves doing and watch the football.
Good Luck to all your DC hope they get the results they are hoping for. 🤞

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 15/06/2026 12:08

Yes there was a typo on the last big maths question and lots of kids found it very hard to figure out made worse by the typo

walking2020 · 15/06/2026 12:09

We are officially done! It’s been a loooong year for DD (and us). She’s spending the day horizontally on the sofa with non stop Netflix.
Her friends don’t finish till Wednesday so she’s going out celebrating then.

In other news AQA Physics higher combined was a good paper and may be the best one yet ( although the elation of finishing may have influenced this a bit)

Really really grateful to this group for all the support in the last few weeks. It’s so comforting to know all families are going through the same ups and downs of exams and not just us.

Best of luck to the Further Maths and Spanish kids.

BeasKnee · 15/06/2026 12:33

DD is back and doesn't seem to have been scarred for life after my rant at her yesterday 😂 Apparently the exam was great which I'm glad about but does annoy me a bit as it makes it harder for her to see that if she had done some revision then maybe it would have gone even better! Ultimately though, I am glad she has been happy with the way most of the exams have gone though and hope that's reflected in the results.

Time for her to find a job now! It's tricky around here as there doesn't seem to be much available and there's now a sudden influx of young people looking. I'm hoping she can find something for just a few hours each week. She has a jam packed couple of weeks with holidays etc. now though so probably needs to wait until July

Friolero · 15/06/2026 12:35

We’ve had an email from my DS school about the combined science higher paper for physics this morning to say they are querying one of the questions with AQA as they think there was an error on the paper.

Mrspimplepopper · 15/06/2026 12:58

My dd has finished today, been out for a coffee and cake. She has SEN and has had hospital school provision. She seems relieved it's done but she's a little flat and irritable. I hope this passes when she's had a rest

Is this weight vs mass? Dd hopes it is as she said something was weird and she struggled to make sense of it if so. She had a go and by that stage was so over it so it hasn’t unduly bothered her but she’d feel vindicated if it is!

whereonthestair · 15/06/2026 13:18

My DS struggled with that too, thought it was off but did his best and was running out of time anyway so he’ll feel vindicated if there was an error

Tebheag · 15/06/2026 13:24

Sending virtual hugs to those that need it. Definitely been a roller coaster emotionally in our house.
DD still has Spanish to go not done any studying yet for it so will be cramming that in later.
AQA triple went well.
Half the group said it was unfair to celebrate tonight and they should wait till tomorrow as planned found that out this morning after feeling bad for DD and agreeing to host a after prom party when asked last night.

I’m not sure as my DS does triple science so I don’t think it was his paper, but they emailed the whole year group.

The email said they’re aware there’s a query about one of the questions on the paper, and they’ve raised it with AQA who are now investigating, and if AQA find there’s an error the school can apply for special consideration for the students who sat that paper.

Roseyposeypie · 15/06/2026 13:33

We’ve still got one more to go (further maths). I’m intrigued by all those feeling emotional at the end of school. I’m sure I’m going to feel that too to some extent but DS will be heading back in September for A levels so it just feels like the end of one stage rather than the end of school. Do most of you have children moving schools for A levels or going to college or onto an apprenticeship?

UncomfortableSilence · 15/06/2026 13:43

DD reports that AQA Triple was ‘beautiful’ They are all off to spend the rest of the day in the park.

DD is going to a different school for VI form, she wanted a change and didn’t want to stay on. She’s my youngest and her sister stayed at VI form there so we’ve been at the school for 10 years and I do feel a little sad.

Hugs to all those DC that need it today, what an absolute rollercoaster of emotions.

LimeFish · 15/06/2026 13:45

OCR triple.physics was "good". When she came home and we chatted about it all being over I really felt joyous.

A few hours of TV and she's now mowing the lawn (it's the one chore we pay her to do).

DD is staying on for sixth form and has a younger sibling going to the same school so doesn't feel like the end of school, just a nice long holiday.

In my area there is probably only 2 or 3 schools with 6th forms. The majority of kids leave school at 16 to go to college (and some apprenticeships) the colleges they go to are spread around the county so it really does seem like the end of an era with everyone heading off in different directions.
