Did anyone else’s DC get asked to download an app on their last week at school which contains all their educational history on it? My dd had to download it and get it verified by school with a code. It just has her school history on there. I’m now remembering a bbc news article about how gcse results are going to be available online for the first time this year and wonder if it’s linked to this app. Anyone have any clue? She asked the teachers but they didn’t seem to know anything about it!

Yes we did. According to the school, results should be avaliable on it fromm 11am on results day

Oh I see.. Thank you! Shame our school didn’t provide that crucial information! I’m guessing they would have all gone in by then to get them in person but great for those who are away on hols

HaveYourPetSpayedOrNeutered · 20/06/2026 13:09

No app for DS’s school, but they can email results if the student happens to be away.

Bluebelle8261 · 20/06/2026 13:46

Our school have said, results have to be collected between 9-10. I am sure there is a longer window usually!

makemineadecaf · 20/06/2026 13:55

We have 8-10. I’ll be in the car park long before!

NotDarkGothicMama · 20/06/2026 15:01

Maybe I'll camp out, like a throwback to Boxing Day sales in the olden days.

getwiththeprogram · 20/06/2026 15:08

I haven't heard anything from the school about how pupils will receive their results 🤔

Neither have I 🤷‍♀️ Maybe my daughter is deliberately withholding this information 😂

Caddycat · 20/06/2026 20:49

So lovely you guys are still here!

There has been no mention of the app here, we've been told to come in person on 20th August and that they will give more info in due course.

DD hasn't really stopped since the end of exams. She's back on her full dance schedule, had an (unsuccessful but fun) audition, had nails done, shopping for prom accessories... Still hasn't had time to sort her notes and books or tidy her room ;-) Prom is on Monday, it will be a hot one!

Littletreefrog · 20/06/2026 21:20

DS has the app but they still go into school for results., although no information has been provided about this yet. It really could go either way given his struggles and I'm getting absolutely no indication from him as to what we might expect on the day so I'm really hoping he will let us take him on results day although I know he definitely won't let us in school.

HaveYourPetSpayedOrNeutered · 21/06/2026 08:08

We’ve signed up to a couple of relatively local university open days to encourage DS to think about this a bit. He’s currently somewhat undecided about which A levels he’d really like to do - he previously decided against Physics because of one of the topics, but he really enjoys it otherwise, and it would sit well alongside Maths.

We’ve also booked uni open days for the autumn term but definitely not local!!

HaveYourPetSpayedOrNeutered · 21/06/2026 08:57

@makemineadecaf DS is still quite unsure re what he’d like to actually do at university, so I hoped this might focus his mind somewhat 😄.

Ifonlyoneday · 21/06/2026 09:10

The app is in trial mode which is why most of us have not been asked to download it. It’s great that the government is modernising how results can be shared from email, but I have spoken to a few teachers and they are concerned that not having the face to face option in future is a risk. They mentioned that the signpost students who don’t get the grades to other institutions or courses, they give a lot of perspective to those who need support on the day and that having others to talk to about results can really help. I hope for the mental health of our DC that as well as the app there is still some face to face options available for those needing support.

GCSE results day to change for thousands of students with new app

School leaders have welcomed the plans for digital exam grades, but said they would need "seamless" support.

That’s odd, that article suggests it’s being trialled in West Midlands and Manchester which we are definitely not!

Onthesofawithmydog · 21/06/2026 11:25

Oh wait I just realised that article was 2025 and this year all students in the country should have it

Ifonlyoneday · 21/06/2026 11:50

Yep apologies the article I linked to was the initial trial. Here is a more recent article www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgn7p198x9o

Walkingbkwrm · 21/06/2026 11:57

We definitely don’t have an app - but it might well be England only?
Trying not to think about results day tbh! Though do need to decide whether to sign DS1 up to enhanced transition events over the summer. Problem is that College is not his first choice so it would be preparing him to go to a place he hopefully won’t go to. Based on previous experience of the college though everyone will be “when you come in September this is what will happen” rather than if iyswim. Plus currrently he is destressing nicely and don’t really want him thinking about Sept yet :(.

UncomfortableSilence · 21/06/2026 12:14

We have the App but have been told to still go in for 8am results day. In the parent WhatsApp most parents were against the app because of the sharing of data, only 3 in her form downloaded it including her as I think it’s a great idea. No more trying to find exam certificates when applying for jobs all held in one central place. (We are in London BTW)

Shes still out and about having a great time, prom is Thursday, slightly concerned about the 37 degree forecast for that day!!

We don’t have the app here either. It does say results are not on the app till 11 am. I think most people picking up from school will be able to get them before then anyway

HaveYourPetSpayedOrNeutered · 21/06/2026 13:44

Just read this re the app on gov.uk - I don’t think DS’s school have signed up as they haven’t mentioned it:

Schools and colleges are being encouraged to sign up now ahead of results days in August 2026. Pupils in schools that sign up can download the app now and should speak to their school to set it up before results day, when they will receive their GCSE results as the first records on the app.

DS has places at 3 different sixth forms, all of whom wanted me to say he was definitely coming in September before they'd confirm an offer. I wasn't going to restrict his choices once he gets his actual results so said yes to all 3. I'm sure it's a logistical and administrative nightmare for them to not know numbers and subjects but it seems a stupid system to me as a parent.

We have the app. I'll still be dragging DS to school 30 mins before it opens to get his results in person though.

UncomfortableSilence · 21/06/2026 16:05

@NotDarkGothicMama We also accepted all 3 places for DD. She has taster days for all of them coming up which she hopes will help her decide.

VI Forms/Colleges are used to this. There is so much change in the first few weeks of term. YP sign up, drop out, change their minds and wait lists are offered. It is an admin nightmare however we are used to it and the majority of September is like this every year.

tourdefrance · 21/06/2026 17:08

I'm a governor at our sixth form and we discuss numbers vs this time last year, how many are coming from feeder schools etc. In September we will see how many stay on into year 2 and actual numbers on a certain date which is the magic number for funding. We know not everyone who gets a place will take it up.

Haribosweets · 21/06/2026 20:57

I had an email on Friday re the app to get results so bearing in all year 11s have left now but to get the app downloaded onto your device the child has to make arrangements to go into school and sit with a teacher to download together and they will give them the code in person. I don't think many will do that now they have finished!
