How much homework do your year 9 dc get a night time wise? Is an hour a day a lot? Do they have to do many subjects each night?

Our school follows the 10 minutes per year so year 9 would be 90 mins.
In addition to regular homework, there is the assessment preparation and assignments.

Sounds like a lot to me, but I don't agree with homework. Mine don't have anything per night, it's weekly at their school. They have weekly language vocab, an online maths quiz and an aim of an hour a week reading but it's not monitored. They also have termly tests so sometimes there's extra revision.

Yes I’d say mine ends up with about an hour a night. Get set a piece of homework per week per subject on average. Plus more when there are assessments.

Ex teacher

my school had a homework timetable so it came in not piled up.

We also had a minimum time of a week to do the homework - so no overnight homework- so the students generally got used to the rhythm of it and could do it all at the weekend if they chose.

we cut down y7/y8 homework to maths English and MFL - English was reading, maths was online and MFL was daily online if possible.
