Surbiton high waitlist

Just wondering if anyone has heard about any movement on the Surbiton High waitlist this year? My DD is currently on the waitlist and I've been told by the school that they haven't gone to the waitlist, which surprised me a bit. My DD has received and accepted an offer from another school, but she would really love to go to SHS, so we are just trying to work out whether there is any realistic chance of movement.

I know a few girls who got in and all accepted so it must be a popular choice this year. One retracted their acceptance after the deadline though, so perhaps there is a small possibility for you. Best of luck!

Waitlist movement at schools like Surbiton High tends to happen in two waves — a small amount before the acceptance deadline and then a much bigger shift in June and July when families who held multiple offers finally commit. Sitting tight until at least June before drawing any conclusions is worth doing. I post more on the independent school process at @boardingschoolguide if it helps.

I would wait for April too, when the termly notice period ends and people have to tell the school, otherwise lose a term's fee rather than just the deposit. If you're still keen, keep contacting the school and reiterate that you are ready to accept as soon as a place comes up. GOOD LUCK!

Thank you, everyone. That’s all really helpful to know. We are still keeping everything crossed, hoping a place might become available, as it's such a good fit for our DD.
