Kingsdale Foundation School waitlist

DC was offered a half scholarship from Kingsdale. At the time of doing the CAF he felt quite ambivalent about it as a school and so did we. We put it second choice on our form, which was probably an error considering the odds of a place are still very slim

But since then, circumstances have changed and he's become much keener on going. IF we get our first choice school, does anyone know if we can join the Kingsdale scholarship waiting list or will that have been discarded and we'll be on the main waiting list? I've read and re-read their policies and appendices and am none the wiser...

(not keen on a pros and cons of Kingsdale school conversation, just would like to know if anyone has been in a similar situation or fully understands the admission policy) Thanks!

On the eadmissions portal with my DC decision, it says that if you’ve been given your first choice that you will be automatically removed from waiting lists for schools lower on your list. That’s Lewisham though.

I was curious about this too. I couldn’t find my info on the Lambeth portal and faqs. Nothing about waitlists at all.

The lottery thing is such a weird set up. I could never wrap my head around how it worked for the CAF.

On the portal for our council it says if you want to be added to waitlists for schools below your first choice you can do that by contacting the Borough’s admissions team. I’d give them a call.

I know someone who put Kingsdale as their second choice but received a full sports scholarship. He was still offered a place.

But usually if you put your first choice you cannot appeal. My advice contact Kingsdale and explain the situation.

If you want to appeal the decision not to offer a place, you may need to make a new application (rather than 'request to go on waiting list') - some LAs do alliw appeals to be lodged where the reason the place was not allocated was that a higher preference was (e.g. Essex), but certainly not all.

So yes, definitely contact your home LA for advice on how to go about 'reinstating' your Kingsdale application.
