N London 6th form offers

Barnsleybonuz · 20/02/2026 09:23

Does anyone know when the North London state school offers for 6th forms are likely to come out?

we have applied to Woodhouse, Fortismere, APS and Camden.

Would be lovely to have some idea of if we are going to have any offers prior to getting deep into revision and exam territory. None of them seem to have designated offer days

No it hasn’t gone to spam and my account say pending. I have emailed them today, don’t know if they are working over the holidays. Hopefully they will get back to me. I know a few who got offers this week

You've got the rest of the summer to go away!

We have already booked our holiday.. so we cancel an entire family holiday because this wasn’t mentioned upon application? Really? I don’t think so!

DS has had a couple of offers from 2 very good sixth forms.

He’s had an interview with LAE which he was really pleased with.

Still waiting on others. Have emailed to explain we won’t be there physically on results day.

Waitlisted for Woodhouse I’m hoping a place will come up!

Was about to say, Woodhouse offers are out, DS has an offer

Stowickthevast · 31/03/2026 19:53

DD just got a place too. She probably won't end up going so fingers crossed for your dc @Barnsleybonuz

apparently CGS are out on Thursday.

Same! Fingers crossed 🤞

Wincher · 31/03/2026 22:12

None of DS’s friends got offers so I think he’s unlikely to want to go. Shame as I think it’s a good option for him.
He’s not so keen on latymer @stowickthevast,mainly as he’s very anti the idea of a school sixth form! He was always a bit sad we hadn’t put him in for the 11+ to go there in the first place so I think he wanted to apply just to see if he could get in now!
once we hear from LAET he can make a proper decision on priorities

Vinorosso74 · 31/03/2026 22:57

DD has offers from Woodhouse and LaSwap (already at a LaSwap school). These are the 2 she likes so is quite happy, just the exams to get through...
She applied to CSG but didn't like it, I don't warm to it either.

Thanks very much. His first choice is Fortismere but he’s still pending there and Woodhouse second. I didn’t expect a Woodhouse offer as one of his subjects has a tiny intake but fingers crossed something will come up. I have heard of quite a few private school kids with offers they’re unlikely to take so hopefully there will be some movement

Do you know when Fortismere offers are out?

Also, does anyone know what the required grades are for entry into Woodhouse? DS is predicted 7s and 8s but didn't get an offer so a bit confused. Not sure if his A-level choices (Economics, Maths and History) are massively oversubscribed?

All competitive sixth forms will expect them to be there in person on gcse results day. Your DC may miss out on his first choice or miss out on his preferred study options/ subjects if they are oversubscribed.

You can hold several offers for sixth form but can only take one so they all over offer and have a system on the day for first come first served or whatever their internal system is. But most are a pretty blunt tool regardless of how many 9s you have I’m sorry to say.

Is that really the case? You can turn up on results day and apply? DS didn't apply to a few we wished we had so that's good to know.

3 years ago DS1 applied and got offers from 5 places and dithered between APS and Woodhouse until the last minute. He actually went to the 1st days at Woodhouse on Friday and Alexandra Park School on Monday, plumped for APS. He then thought he might have made the wrong decision and Wednesday of the 1st week he rang Woodhouse to ask if he could go there. They would have taken him to do his choices without Further Maths but the FM group was full, and I said at that point that, while I'd hoped he would choose Woodhouse, as he already knew he wanted to do Maths at University, being able to do Maths and Further Maths was a deal breaker. It all turned out fine, though he did regret going to a school based 6th form and wished he'd chosen a college course.

Woodhouse had online enrolment but I do know of a friend's son 3 years before who'd slightly missed his grades including a 7 for History - he went to visit Woodhouse where he'd missed an offer and another school he'd not initially applied to, had an offer for the latter and Woodhouse kept him waiting a few more days before accepting him. That's when it's important to be around.

Do you know what the required entry grades are for Woodhouse? It says 6 for History not 7? Can they impose higher grade requirements than those on their website?

Apparently some people have had Fortismere offers but my friend seems to think only kids in Muswell Hill so don’t know how reliable that info is.

DS predictions also all 7’s and 8’s and on waiting list for Woodhouse so I imagine they’ve offered to the 8’s and 9’s first.

They take they highest grade predictions as per their admissions policy, as long as you are within their maximum advised travel distance. My DC didn't get a place either, though had kind of ruled it out anyway in favour of current school. DCs current predicted grade average from best 8 GCSEs is 7.75 and they have been put on the waiting list for Woodhouse.

Actually to add, they have two "feeder" schools. If you are in those priority schools you need to meet the minimum grades required.

So if you meet the required grades, you don't necessarily get a place as they will give places to applicants with the best grades? So if DS has 7s and 8s, he will lose out to an applicant with 8s and 9s, assuming both within maximum travel time?

When you say waiting list, do you mean Reserve List? I know quite a few kids who went to Woodhouse with 7s and 8s.

Also, they suggested to me that DS could switch his subject choices - did you see that too?

That's correct, assuming he doesn't attend one of the two nominated feeder / partner schools. It's on their website.

Summertimemadness2026 · 02/04/2026 14:11

Also, I think DS has been a bit shafted with his "predicted" grades. His school have said they don't give predicted grades to sixth forms, only mock results. DS did well overall but got lower in 2 of the subjects he wants to do for A-level as he made a few silly mistakes and the entire group found the paper hard. His mock results are obviously lower than his actual results will be so seems very unfair. Do other schools do this? He's at an independent school.

It says waiting list in the email and nothing about changing subjects - but DC wouldn't want to change subjects anyway

Maths, physics, chemistry

@Summertimemadness2026 Dd's offer for Woodhouse says an average of 7.5 for 4 A levels or 6 for 3 A levels out of your 8 best GCSE results.

She's applied for Maths, Economics, German & Psychology.

No offer from CSG here unsurprisingly, we're quite far, but they've said she can apply for waiting list places on 28 August which clashes with Reading!

Thank you! Please may I ask what her predicted grade in Maths is?

A friend's DS also got rejected from CSG and Marylebone despite very good predictions. Like you say, I think distance and also religion in the case of Marylebone, plays a part.

Wincher · 02/04/2026 18:04

Just to add that my DS’s predicted grades are 999988887 and that was enough for a Woodhouse offer - but as mentioned, the conditional offer is average 7.5 to do 4 A-levels there.
