I was wondering if anyone has experience on SHHS waitlist? Is there any movement?

My dd is now in Y7, so we saw it all last year - there was huge movement in the waitlists, I know 2 girls who got offers from waitlist and tbh was surprised as I hadn't thought either of them were very academic. We didn't accept the place at SHHS and relinquished early but many held on till the last minute so the wait can be long...

SHHS is a great school, so the reasons for so much movement as far as I can see: firstly it loses the girls with offers from 'better' schools - obvs not really better but academically higher achieving, if you see what I mean. So everyone with offers to SPG and Godolphin etc.

And then also it loses some girls who get a place offered, but decide on a less high pressured school - a surprising amount in our year turned down SHHS for Channing/FHS etc even though SHHS is 'better' academically. I was pleasantly surprised to see parents choosing not to put girls in a school if it was going to be too high pressured for them, seems to be a real focus on their mental health and you can just see for some girls it would be too high pressure.

Good luck to your DD x

Offers from WL at this point would be rare. Most schools do offer holder days in the week after half term and then movement really starts to happen after that. Often it is quite last minute though with a lot happening on 3/4 March. Good luck
