Our son is very academic and particularly loves music and chess. We have applied for a Year 7 place for this year, and want to know a bit more information. I’ve found it a bit tricky to get detailed info on the "non-academic" side of the school life. Most parents I’ve spoken to mention about rugby, but I'd love to know about other extra curriculars :

  1. Music: Are there many boys who play instruments? What are the facilities like, and are there regular concerts or ensembles?
  2. Chess: How active is the Chess Club?
  3. Trips: What is the situation with school trips? Are there any international music/cultural tours ?
Any information will help us decide if this school would be a right fit for our son xx

Is it not a bit late for this question? If you put it number one on your list then if you get an offer all others will be declined automatically so you will have no choice other than to go back on the waitlist for other schools which may no longer have a place?

I should have mentioned that Ds has offers in nearby independent school and we still have that option open, though leaning towards St. Olaves. So it’ll still be good to know xx
