Boarders at my sons' schools go home after GCSEs. LOL at the reduction in fees. At all independent schools they do about 4 weeks of the summer term before study leave. Terrific value for money! In fact if they live close enough some boarders go home during study leave.

Parents wish (reduction in fees!) The ocntract we've signed for DD specifically mentions that when pupils are on study leave and not required to be in school there will be no reduction in fees.

They don't have to stay in school though. Our Y12 were on study leave for a week after half term and are now back; our Y13's were on study leave from half term ad aren't required back until Speech Day (last day of term). Don't know about Y11.

Some choose to go home during study leave; some choose to stay at school. Some day pupils come in every day too and use school resources. And teachers are still timetabled for lessons so the pupils know they can go along and get some help at particular times, often one to one.

I assume as the school still has to pay the teachers their same ay, and the school still has to pay to keep the school running, then there would be no reduction in fees.
