Hello
could anyone share what atom sas score they had when their children passed KGS 11+ entrance exam? Or what they had if they didn’t pass would also be very helpful to know. Thank you

I don’t think knowing this will help you but do you have a ds or dd and what other schools are you considering? Ie Hampton or Halliford? LEH or Notre Dame? Where does your dc sit in their primary class academically?

I think it would be good to have an idea of atom sas score of children who passed KGS (only school we are targeting) as otherwise I can’t really get a feeling of my DD at all. Our primary is state and doesn’t tell anything besides that she is above target but nothing in comparison to others or in comparison to a 11+ level. Our tutor shares positive comments but doesn’t really know what level is needed to get in.

We didn't apply for KGS but our DS applied for CLS boys, Dulwich College, Alleyns and St pauls. He passed all their tests and made it to the interview stages. His Atom score was quite volatile throughout. His scores ranged from 100-140. But towards the end it seemed like his scores were around 120-135 region. I was a bit worried that any odd low score would impact his confidence so I reduced his atom post his ISEB's and concentrated more on paper format. To give you an idea of volatility of his scores three weeks before ISEB he tried ATOM mocks and in NVR he got a sub 100 score. That was nerve wracking. My main message after that was to not concentrate on outright score but every little improvement was a big plus. All the best to you and your DC.

I think like the pp said, the scores can go up and down. But for example, I think safe with 120+ for KGS....however don't freak out if you get a few 100s in there.

also whilst the academic standards are the same KGS must have to offer more places to dd due to the high volume of all girls schools accessible on the SW train line - surbiton/wimbledon/putney etc

@Tittis I'm sure you know this already but something maybe to bear in mind for KGS is that it is a traditional maths paper, a multiple choice comprehension and a written creative which is based off the comprehension text in some way. So it doesn't use online testing and it doesn't test VR and NVR. We used Atom for practice but also did specific KGS practice alongside. If you put KGS in as your target school on Atom, it should tell you how your DD compares to other children who got into KGS. We did find the KGS specific mocks on Atom were helpful.

Not sure what year your DD is in but you could also sit the 10+ at KGS for practice? They will tell you roughly where your child's results were within the cohort if you are not successful. But, we know plenty of children who didn't get in at 10+ who were successful at 11+.

Don’t focus too much on atom scores, I found them unhelpful and found myself freaking out. He was scoring between 100-130 but no consistency and scores were all over the place. He actually got 95 in English few days before the exam. For context he passed the exams for St Albans, habs and ucs.

My elder son was getting about 120 plus on Atom and got into KGS. As stated above though it’s a very traditional paper and the best way to prepare was to do lots of paper papers and the 10 plus, which gives good feedback. There are sample papers floating around either on the KGS website or on the web generally, which have model answers. Found these v helpful for showing how workings should be laid out.

Didn’t bother with Atom for younger son! And he got into KGS, too

I would say that the KGS 11plus exam is one of the earlier ones so good as exam prep anyway, so nothing to lose.

Its a great school and we are very happy with it.

As others have said, KGS paper is very traditional English and maths and atom is probably not the best preparation for it. We used the paper versions of past ISEB papers as practise which worked well as well as the schools own practise papers which they send you when you register I believe. The schools admissions team gave guidance that they look for a score of 70% or above in the written papers to go to interview. Atom SAS scores can be all over the place - my DS would get 140 one day and 96 the next.
KGS is an absolutely fantastic school and we are very happy with it!
