Question regarding Grey Coats admissions

Could anyone shed some light on the admissions in the 'open places' criteria at GCH? We are Jewish so won't get in via a church place. Based on what are the open places allocated? Is it proximity? Banding? I am also aware that there is a route to admission via the language test. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Distance

Banding, and within each band, distance. The 15 language places are dependent on results of the language aptitude test.

Not sure how well image will come out but that's the allocation stats for last year's offer day. As you can see, very few open places and many go to siblings.

It’s virtually impossible to get an open place unless you live on the doorstep or have a child already there. It’s massively oversubscribed.

Right, understood. Thank you for your responses. Is the language aptitude test something one can prepare for with tutoring?

Hi,

I would say not something worth tutoring for but you can prepare for the style of paper. It’s really about language aptitude and natural ability . It’s not like a 11+ or NVR.
