A Level, Yr12 Work Experience placements

Looking for general advice on how to help DS16 find a decent work experience placement. He is supposed to do a week at end of June but doesn't yet know what he wants to do at UNI so it's hard to know where to start in finding a suitable placement. He is studying Biology, Physics and Spanish but also has an interest in tech/AI.
Where do we even start? Any hints and tips appreciated. 🙏

Many hospital trusts have volunteer programmes. The one in my local area offer placements in most departments.

Call on family and friends - see if they can find somewhere at their work. Several people have done it at my company and they also arranged w/e at an associated company for others.

You don't need to focus on final career ideas, it can also be really valuable to think about getting experience that will help lead to first part-time work around studies, so retail/hospitality etc. As pp said ,do use any family/friend connections if you can get something a bit more focused on long term interests though. Note that many places don't like under 18s/16s. If he reaches out to larger local companies they have have formal schemes for taking students although sometimes these are fixed weeks. His school might be able to advice on places that have taken students before. Also helping in his old or local primary school is a good fallback as they are well set up for work experience.
