I think this time the St Paul’s maths paper was quite challenging. I’ve heard that some of the questions were actually harder than those in commercial mock exams.

It was an afternoon paper, and apparently there were some particularly difficult questions from around question 10 onwards. If a lot of time was spent there, it would have been very hard to reach the final questions.

There were 16 questions in total, although some of them had multiple parts. love to hear your DSs’ opinions.

We had a similar experience w SPGS… tricky questions and tight timing. Likewise would love anything anecdotal to tell me others felt similarly!!

My DS didnt even get to questions 15 and 16. Just barely started 14 and then time was up. Also left out some sub-questions in the previous questions. He said that one of the questions went to sub-question (a) to (g)! Surprisingly, it said that it was for 100 marks, but there were no marks set out for individual questions. In summary - very difficult.

Do the 11+ and 13+ exams have different questions?

I am 13+

I thought they were different exams even though both are sat during year 6.

Can anyone confirm that they are the same or different?

Even for 11 plus, the Math was very challenging. My DS who had wrote different grammars found this one hardest

I wonder if the papers are harder because they've had more applicants this year. People have decided if they are going to pay for private school then they will only pay for the elite ones as the mid tier ones aren't worth the price so it's either elite or state.

I didn’t realise the elite ones have had increased applicants. I asked SPGS and they didn’t really give me a straight answer. Did you get information from the boys school about increased applicants this year?

xmasxmaself · 10/01/2026 10:41

It would be hard to know if the paper was harder than previous years. It’s unlikely. A lot will not finish and will still get an offer. They don’t expect the majority to finish and get full marks.

Hi all, does anyone know when parents hear about the outcome of the tests, and when next stage interviews are?

thanks!
