Could anyone please help? My son has a general interview for 11+ at KGS. Has anyone passed KGS and can give any advice? Many thanks!

Congratulations to your son. It’s a friendly conversation… last year it was things like “three words to describe yourself” and “what are you looking forward to at KGS” (so read what clubs are available etc). Also was asked about what book he was reading, and somehow got onto a conversation about what plays he’d seen recently. Be prepared to ask a question… things about clubs, sports and school trips are safe bets.

Hi, can I ask whether your son was offered a place after interview? My child also had a general interview, and has been placed on the reserve list. From what I’d read and heard, I’d hoped that a general interview was a positive sign and that most of this group would be offered a place unless the interview went badly? Trying to understand whether perhaps his exam results just weren’t quite good enough, and what our chances are of being offered from the reserve list. Finding this waiting very hard!!

Crossing my fingers for you, it's hard to say as it changes from year to year, some years more are taken from the WL and some years less. But keep in mind there are quite a few candidates locally waiting for Tiffin (or other state school) results, so the WL often moves once state school offers are out. Unfortunately that means waiting another week, but the WL usually does move. Hope you have good news next week!

Thank you. Unfortunately no movement yet, and seems they’re not expecting any until after acceptance deadline, which coincides with our back up deadline 😭
