Barnett address check

I have moved to Barnet (London) with 3 daughters as the oldest passed the first exam for a reputable grammar school and did very well on the second.

That was in September, so before the CAF deadline.

The council accepted the address in writing a week ago or so.

However, we are afraid to go away for a few days, we want to go to my mother's that lives in Dorset - because of the address checks.

How likely is it they will ever come and check if we live there?

Or are we off the hook now.

Any reply is appreciated. Thank you.

Normal people don't get worried to go and visit family for a few days for Xmas in case a school thinks it means they've permanently moved away. You live there. So you've nothing to worry about. It's the same as if you'd lived there for ten years or one month.

Unless you're planning to take all the curtains down and empty the front room of furniture, I don't think you need worry. If you're not in, they will assume you are out, either for the day or for a longer visit to relatives.

If you are living at the address, don’t worry. I don’t think they would carry out address checks over religious holidays in case people are away. Have you retained another home?

they came and checked us in feb but if you are not home they will talk to your neighbours

I have never heard of an in-person address check.
