LEH vs St. Paul’s Girls School Sixth Forms

DD has been very lucky to get offers from LEH and St. Paul’s for year 12. She loved them both when she looked round, and felt incredibly welcome so it’s a hard decision to make! She received an academic scholarship and full bursary at LEH, and a full bursary at SPGS. It would take her 40 mins to travel to LEH by bus, and 50 mins to SPGS by tube.

DD is hardworking and outgoing, but essentially wants to be happy at her new sixth form. She also values friendship a lot. Am wondering how much pressure the schools put on the girls during their A-level years? How much homework/revision is set? Is there any unhealthy competition between the girls?

Finally, what is the teaching/departments like? Is there lots of additional support when applying to universities?

Would be very grateful for any insights whatsoever!

I can only answer for SPGS. DD left last summer.

Am wondering how much pressure the schools put on the girls during their A-level years?
Very little.

How much homework/revision is set?
Revision is a matter for the girls themselves. Homework never seemed like crazy amounts and the staff are kind about giving extensions eg if someone is in the school play and rehearsing all the time, or unwell, or whatever.

Is there any unhealthy competition between the girls?
Very little competitiveness at all. But I guess it may vary between friendship groups.

Finally, what is the teaching/departments like?
Generally good. I am not sure what you are asking here!

Is there lots of additional support when applying to universities?
Yes, lots.

Hope that's vaguely helpful.

Your child will perform very well in both of the schools and will have very good results. However, if I were you, I would go for St. Paul’s Girls School as it is very prestige and looks good on papers. LEH is second tier and I live nearby and many people who work there.
