BHASVIC or Newman College?

My son is very keen to go to BHASVIC. However, we visited Newman College and noticed that the class sizes were much smaller than BHASVIC and their results for Maths A levels were higher than BHASVIC. I am looking for advice on both colleges as I am completely confused to what's the right path!! Any experience with either colleges? Please help. Thank you.

The brightest and independent learners go to BHASVIC and get higher results. Not sure what stats you’re looking at but they’re not correct. BHASVIC is better unless your DC need more of a hand hold

My cousin is at BHASVIC right now. He’s just gone into his second year, but sat the full maths A-Level last year though (my auntie said they do that at BHASVIC for some reason). He got top marks!

I’d back BHASVIC over Newman. I went to a Varndean Sixth Form which I thought was pretty great at the time (20 years ago, oh dear).

Best of luck to your son. :-)

BHASVIC expects students to be very independent, it is academic and gets good results. Newman results are also excellent my DD got 3 x A*. My DS less academic and wanting to do engineering, graphics etc went to Varndean. Both had good experiences.

Apply to both BHASVIC and Newman and see what happens. You can't apply to both BHASVIC and Varndean but can do the BHASVIC and Newman combo.
