Hampton 10+ hard ?

Hi all, just wanted to know if anyone had experience of the Hampton 10+ test and could advise on how hard the exam is? Is it pitched at the same level as 11+?
I understand it’s a problem solving paper and the school writes its own papers so it’s very hard to prep for it.
any feedback is so apppreciated!

Both DC did KGS 10+ and passed with no prep. We used it as practice for the 11+ for a different school. They had friends that did it and didn’t pass so it’s clearly not easy. Not sure how it would compare to Hampton. I’d say it’s not really possible to prep for a 10+ so just give it a go and if they don’t pass you’ve got another go next year.

I’m not sure as they didn’t do 11+ at this school having passed 10+ but I’d say the 11+ must be slightly harder. Also I seem to remember there was an adjustment for age so my daughter got a slight uplift as she was young in the year. This was a few years ago though so it may have changed.

Also there was an interview which was really just a fairly relaxed chat.

The 10+ at Hampton is much harder than the 10+ at KGS, problem solving is key. KGS 10+ an 11+ are much easier. Best of luck to your son

DS did Hampton 10plus a few years ago. I don't think it was at the same level as 11+ but there were some hard questions on the maths (which he didn't finish).
He was at a state school- bright but not genius. I think he nailed the interview which helped him getting a place.

My DS did the 10+ at both Hampton and KGS but didn't pass. The next year he did pass the 11+ for both and also Tiffin. He's now at Tiffin and is probably average/slightly above for his year.

My DS will also be doing the Hamptons 10 plus in a couple of week any info very welcome. I think they ask to do some descriptive writing based on a picture. So that’s the prep we will do but it’s more about getting my son used to an exam as he has never sat one before.

It’s best to position the 10plus as a practice for the 11 plus and keep the build up low key. As a parent you don’t know what Hampton is looking for (apart from the obvious - all rounders who have a curiosity about life) or the level of competition for your particular year.

last few questions for math will be at primary math challenge level and is harder than kgs 10+. Kgs provide mock paper and it is similar level for the real exam.
