Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has had success getting a place at any of the following schools from these distances:

  • Langley Park Girls – 4.8 miles
  • Bullers Wood Girls – 3.2 miles
  • Chislehurst School for Girls – 3.2 miles
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with experience or advice. Thanks in advance!

Very very VERY unlikely.

Charles Darwin is very good. Some of the primary schools in Orpington are feeder schools for CDS, so if your DC is at one of those schools, they should get in.

Gymrabbit · 15/10/2025 20:28

You seem very keen on single
sex. Darrick Wood is a very good school and you are more likely to get in than these ones but it is mixed.

bellocchild · 15/10/2025 20:45

Agreed.

Ah, sorry, should have said we’re only really looking at single-sex girls’ schools! Thanks so much for all the replies and for the school guide PDF, really appreciate it @Wheelskeepturning
From what I can see, most of the schools seem to have a 1–2 mile catchment?? From where we are, it doesn’t really cover any of them except Darrick Wood… but even that’s a bit risky as the catchment can shrink depending on how many applications they get.... hope I understood it right?

You don't mention if you're looking at school for next year, 2026 or 2027.

If it's 2027 and your Dd is academically able, you could consider the selective all girls grammars, Townley in Bexley or Newstead Wood (which is super-selective).

These involve an entrance exam, details of which can be found online.

Surely you can’t be out of catchment for Newstead if you are in Orpington.
Also Townley is normally 6 miles as the Crow flies so I’d be surprised if you were further than that. In Bexleyheath it doesn’t matter if she only scraped a pass, after the top 180 all are treated the same.

Townley does have distance as a criteria too though. Around 2000 children pass the Bexley test and there are just over 800 grammar school places.

Yes that’s why I wrote the average distance on offers day.
