Brighton/Sussex mixed schools recommendations

Hello I am looking for a new school for my DD who is currently in year 8, in and around Brighton. Looking at mixed schools - private and state. DD is academically 'in the middle ', enjoys sport especially netball. Has some anxiety so nowhere too pressured or strict, or traditional. So not looking at Brighton College or Hurst etc. Don't want a girls' school. Looking at LOGS, Shoreham, Cardinal Newman etc. Bede's too far away. Any personal feedback from those schools or others? Looking for somewhere with nice teachers and a friendly group of girls. Thanks!

We are very happy with LOGS. It is definitely not a hot house and you are not paying for fancy facilities and social status.

Families tend to be people who don't want the alpha pushiness of Brighton/Hurst/Ardingly or who want smaller, kinder and more individual than the state sector can offer.

It's traditional in some ways but also attracts the slightly alternative Brighton/Lewes crowd who want something more mainstream than Steiner but somewhere their kids can be individuals.

It's a bit shabby around the edges but the staff are caring and really know the kids so I can forgive that. One of mine has been amazingly well supported with his mental health which took a battering during COVID when he was at primary school - going to LOGS has transformed him.

There are more boys than girls (I think because there are a couple of private girls day schools in the area who take a proportion of girls) but it is a happily co-ed school.

My older one is highly academic and getting on brilliantly. Younger one not so academic but doing just as well getting stuck into performing arts.
