Dd is 15/year 11. She has an incredibly busy week due to a competitive sport she does plus obviously school work but she never reads for pleasure. Yet she’s brilliant at English literature and is considering it for alevel. I know to do this she’ll have to read more but what can I entice her with?

What are your 15 year old girls reading?!

My nearly 14 Yr old have challenged herself with "classic" books this year ie Dostoevsky etc. So her recent list includes: 1984, Animal Farm, White Nights, Emma, Of mice and men plus some Greek plays.

Yeh I think by the time you are 15 and keen on reading, it’s a good time to read some classic texts. I am thinking Catcher in the Rye, yy Animal Farm, Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby (all shortish apart from Austen!).

There are lots of YA books that might suit as well. Have a browse i your local library and ask a librarian. Look for a younger one who may have good knowledge (my 24yo DD works in a library and would be good at this).

For light relief, I loved Agatha Christie at that age (and still do) – short, easy to follow and so clever. Also there are 70+ of them.

My 13yo loved reading the Hunger Games and the Noughts and Crosses series.
