Hi

My sons school has applied for EHCP and they insist strongly he needs EHCP, at the moment it's in assessment stage, I am tracking the progress and I can see the Speech and Language Therapist has denied to do assessment saying school has all the provision to help the child.
Will this deny my sons EHCP ? Please help i am worried.

Contact the LA. Regulation 6(1)(h) of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 states during the EHCNA the LA must seek advice and information from any person you reasonably request. This can include SALT. It is important the EHCNA is conducted correctly.

I spoke to school senco, they said they have their own SALT who will do the assessment. Fingers crossed.

Make sure the SALT report will be written in the correct way for an EHCNA. Not all SALTs working in schools are aware of what is required for EHCNAs.
