Haberdasher Askes Hatcham or Prendergast?

Hi all

my DC has offers from both Haberdashers Aske Hatcham College and Prendergast Hilly Fields to start their a-levels.

The only posts I can find about these two are quite old. I’m aware of their differing Ofsted ratings but am more interested in hearing from anyone who has a sense of how they compare.

The staff I met HAHC were really lovely but I am concerned about its size and reputation compared to Prendergast.

if anyone has any advice it would be really appreciated as I’m really worried about making the wrong choice!

Yes that one, or SE23 Mums is bigger and members are from a bit beyond that postcode and have school questions quite often, including on the two you mention. Getting approved by an admin can apparently be quite hit and miss though, not sure how often they check the requests.

Prendergast yr 12 started this wk. My daughter not in sixth form yet but her and her friends keen to stay on and know older girls who are enjoying the sixth form. I have no info on HAHC. Both seem good options.

I can’t speak to their sixth forms but would suggest exploring the subject data on Compare School Performance. What’s the p8, what proportion at top grades, etc.

Hatcham results were apparently v good this summer (improving year on year and were b+ average I think instead of C) but the data isn’t published yet. It’s summarised on their website though I think.

also depends on where friends are going and where your DC lives?

I live closer to Hatcham and know lots of very successful ambitious young people who’ve left the sixth form recently but I was also impressed by Prendergast when we looked round for y7.

Ps I think Prendergast has been getting higher results for longer or more consistently but Hatcham is definitely on the up again.
