Mathematics in Context (Level 3 Core Maths) is it worth it?

Is this qualification worth bothering with as an extra? My dc school is offering this to anyone who attained a grade 5 and above in GCSE maths, in year 12.

Would be grateful for people's experience with this etc. Many thanks

My son did this and he really enjoyed it. It gives real life maths uses such as calculating VAT and mortgages. School didn't expect any independent study for it and he got a good grade. He failed History so now still looks like 3 A levels on his CV.
