Icknield Community College

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on Icknield Community College?
We are in Buckinghamshire so have the grammar school system here. My daughter is due to start year 7 in Sept.
She didn’t pass the 11plus as she had a long term illness and wasn’t able to prepare and was set back quite a bit in year 5 because of this. I’ve since paid for her to do an assessment privately and it turns out she’s “gifted” (although they don’t use that term now) but massively lacks self confidence, so doesn’t appear as bright as she is. Which I think didnt help in the exam as well as she can’t make decisions. So she needs support as well and to be challenged. We both like Icknield and there is space there, but im worried that she might feel left out if a lot of the children are local. Do a lot of them come from the same primary school? I feel like a small school may help with her confidence issues. But im worried that she may not settle well if she feels like an “outsider” so to speak. So wondered if anyone could share their experiences of the school?

We live locally and friends with kids at the school all have good things to say. I've had professional dealings with the head and SLT and they're excellent. The school has the happiest kids in Oxfordshire which is pretty impressive! It was on a Sunday Times article from March, they looked at parent feedback to ofsted over 5 years. https://archive.ph/iSxHz

Good luck to your daughter.

Thank you for your reply! That’s very interesting to know. As that is the most important thing to be happy at school, a lot of things then fall into place. Thank you again

We've found it amazing for our child. super supportive staff and our child is much happier there than at previous secondary (bucks). Highly recommend! Feel free to message me.

@EKSK Do they have places? You might like it but if no places, it’s a non starter. Whets wrong with the Bucks secondary? Most are pretty decent schools. Has she no friends going to the local secondary? Presumably you would take her to Watlington every day?
