Hi. A friend of mine has just landed an interview for a TA position at a local sec school. HE is planning to go into teaching having just finished his degree but wants to gain experience before applying for the PGCE.

What sorts of questions do you think he is likely to get asked and what kinds of things do you think he should be discussing with the school? I really want to be able to help him out on this one as he has been so supportive of me during my degree (I am looking to go into Primary) and until now haven't felt able to give him anything in return. I am relying on the power of MN to help me in supporting him through this!

TIA

Standard sort of questions such as what qualities do you have that you feel would be an advantage to the school.
Then maybe specifics about what does he know about SEN issues, child protection, how would he deal with a disruptive pupil, how to deal with a pupil that didn't want to start a task etc

As a male TA in a secondary school - he will be in a good postion, IME these are in short supply & I think we need more.
