Don't do what I did and do frogs - said sperm for spawn and never lived it down. The talk that stuck in my head to this day was on Nelson Mandela - how about Aun San Suu Kyi? Topical and really interesting.

what is that?

Rebel leader in Burma (has been under house arrest for years and years - wonderful woman)

Habbibu · 26/05/2008 21:35

Burmese pro-democracy activist - here

too political and serious for her I fear but thanks for the suggestion

Any guide on topic choice? What subject is it for? What is purpose of the talk?

She needs to, ideally, chose something she already knows a bit about - it will give her more confidence. Chosing an entirely new or unfamiliar topic is not ideal if she has a choice of it.

NigellaTheUndomesticGoddess · 26/05/2008 21:59

what is she interested in?
the cult of celebrity?
skinny model types?
horses?
dancing?
the lack of any decent facilities for teenagers in your area?

PuppyDogTails · 26/05/2008 22:01

Something she's interested in, however mundane. DSD did hers on where she went on holiday. They need to understand what they're talking about to feel confident about it.

christywhisty · 27/05/2008 20:19

My DS did his on photography and did a powerpoint with photographs of birds of prey he had taken on holiday.

Why not do it on Bebo or facebook, explain how it works, good points bad points etc.

What about Big Brother, the audition process, entering the house, winning tasks for food, voting system. and how they get to the eventual winner?. You get the drift.

Or her favourite author.
As a writer I probably have a vested interest here

bruxeur · 27/06/2008 11:52

I think she'd need a time machine now, not a talk...
