Does anyone know anything about the Wren Academy (CofE school) opening in Sep 2008. The ideas, way the curriculum will be run and headmasters ideas sound great. It is a totally new school nothing to do with the school that was there before. Only problem is the school that was there before was closed down under special measures. What is the chance of this happening again.

Hi there, my daughter is going to the Wren in September. I (and most of the other parents I think) have been very impressed by the teaching line-up, the headmaster and the aims and ideals of the school. it's also going to be an amazing building when it's finally finished! It has nothing to do with the school which stood here before. It is starting from scratch with just a year 7 intake this year! think it's very exciting, and actually, great to go to a school without a huge history of preconceptions!

My son will be attending year 7 aswell. He thoroughly enjoyed the induction day and choosing his enrichment subjects. Did you find the teachers quite strict, not a bad thing. I was also very impressed by the Head and feel quite confident in sending my child there. What do you think of the uniform?

My daughter goes to the Wren, and (quite predictably) she isn't in love with the uniform. Purple and orange are not the ideal colours for teenagers. However, her brother wears a top hat, cane and waistcoat for his uniform so she has gotten away lightly :'). My husband and I weren't keen on public/boarding schools for the kids bit my son was eager to go with his friends so we decided on Harrow for him and Wren for her! Extreme decisions, I know, but we just wanted them to be happy, which they are. My daughter originally went to Compton but didn't like it, so Wren is the place for her.
