I have been looking at the grammar schools in Altrincham. We are hoping our daughter will sit exam for Altrincham and Loreto grammar. Our question is Loreto mentions baptised girls get preference.. Does that mean as non Catholic we haven't a chance at a place?.... Any insider into from parents greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Not a prayer! They take Catholic girls from a far distance over non Catholics and there is a large demand. Look at this link for secondary outcomes, ‘some cat 4’ means not even all the Catholic applications got in.

Sorry but you’ve not got a cat’s chance in hell of getting in if you’re not Catholic. Most of the feeder schools for Loreto are actually in Warrington and buses are laid on for the girls to get there.

I absolutely agree with the above posters - so sorry. It's Catholics first and then MAYBE children of other faiths. Realistically though, there are more than enough children of the Catholic faith to fill the places. I tutor 11+ for Trafford and Independent schools around the region, so this is very much on my radar.😘
