Not sure if anyone is around yet but thought I’d open one.

Has anyone started any practice questions yet? Mine will be starting tutoring in September, she’s had an assessment to see where she’s at currently and now just enjoying the sunshine ☀️

Sorry to hear that @LifePortfolioWe had good news today, similarish marks (356) but we live in catchment for the Southend schools. I’m over the moon as I am really not keen on our local comp. Today was the longest afternoon of my life!

CoralLemur · 12/10/2026 20:03

It is over for us too @LifePortfolio . DD didn't pass which was a surprise. I thought she would pass but not get the 320+ for a place. It does mean that there is no doubt so we are now focus ing on deciding which other school she wants. Of course she has said she wants the one which is tricky to get to and a slim chance of getting.🤦‍♀️

Bushmillsbabe · 12/10/2026 21:35

@CoralLemur also over for us, DD missed out on a pass by 2 marks (Bucks), which is rubbish. I don't know if would have been better to miss out by lots? We live close so she would have definitely been in with a pass

She doesn't want to go to MR though, she decided even before the scores came out that she wants a specific non selective, which we actually think suits her better than our (slightly pretentious) all girls grammar. But still would have been nice for her to pass and feel like it was her choice.

LifePortfolio · 12/10/2026 21:56

Congratulations @SabrinaSpellwoman and commiserations @CoralLemurand @Bushmillsbabe . Part of me is glad we're not on the cusp, as at least we don't have to spend the next four months second-guessing, but DS has been in floods tonight and I feel so guilty for putting him through this process. So young to feel you're not good enough 😥

11plus2026 · 12/10/2026 23:05

Congratulations and commiserations to those that got their results today.
@LifePortfolio it must have been a huge shock when your DS has been scoring highly in his mocks. That really sucks.

We’re getting ours on Thursday and I am worried for my DD, as I’ve been hearing rumours that the pass marks have gone up quite considerably this year. Her heart is set on a particular school and she would be gutted if she doesn’t get it. I know it won’t be the end of the world but as a parent it’s just hard to put it all into perspective at this moment.

@Bushmillsbabe have you had a chat with your head teacher? How did they score them? It is worth considering SR. There are so many out of catchment DC that push up where the qualifying score is.

I am also in Bucks, I do know other local DC who just missed out (scores 120 and 118) and got through on SR. They are now really enjoying Grammar.
Totally understand if you don't want to do it though. A lot depends on the head teacher's recommendation

GarlandaChynoweth · 13/10/2026 10:15

Commiserations @CoralLemur @LifePortfolio and @Bushmillsbabe and congratulations @SabrinaSpellwoman DC.

@LifePortfolio your poor DS that must have been a horrible disappointment after those practice maths scores.

Hope all DC are handling it ok (dreading DD potentially taking it badly).

Pass mark has been released for the girls here, it's 295, two points higher than last year but on a par with other years. I don't really understand how that compares to other places, I find the different systems really confusing. The info tells us it's out of 420 but I thought standardised scores weren't really 'out of' anything.

Results will be available online at 9am on Thursday so if it's not good news I can spend the day coming to terms with it before breaking the news to DD after school. I am really dreading it but at least we have a time instead of spending all day refreshing. When DS1 did it the results were posted with no particular timeframe specified, DS2's results appeared suddenly online a week and a half before the school had promised them so I hadn't even really started thinking about it. This time around seems so much more stressful, I really wish I could feel less invested.

CouldNotStayAway · 14/10/2026 09:33

I just wanted to say a huge well done to all dc, regardless of the outcome. They’ve all tried so hard, I can imagine the nerves and anxiety on the day, and they’ve braved it all! So well done to all of them.

we will find out on Monday- I don’t have high hopes, just want to find out and move on so to speak!

GarlandaChynoweth · 15/10/2026 09:32

Results were in for Wiltshire at 9am today...DD smashed it. I absolutely can't believe it, she could be so inconsistent practising but clearly pulled it out of the bag on the day. If her best friend doesn't get in she's still thinking she might go to the comp instead, but I'm glad that her hard work paid off whatever we ultimately decide.

Good luck to everyone awaiting results in the coming days, it feels like this has been a very long road. DD is my youngest of three so never again!

DC didn’t get in! FSCE results. Sad but hopeful ❤️‍🩹

Quest - we got a “B” letter, so eligible score but not in the top 160. Urgh. Feel sick.

Is this for Colyton? We got our email but I can't work out whether it's a B letter, confused by the wording! It's a long time to wait without knowing whether they will get a place isn't it :(. Have you got any other schools you're considering?

Yep. Feel free to pm me the wording and I will be able to tell you if it’s a B letter or not!

flarp · 15/10/2026 14:41

Oh and no schools we are happy with, so this limbo is awful tbh. Our catchment area school is a big no too. You?

AnnaBegins · 15/10/2026 14:49

Any Warwickshire 11+ parents here? We are not in the main catchment so DS has to do better than the qualifying score, which he did by 21 marks, but no guarantees that will be good enough - last year it wouldn't have been. Would love to hear from any other parents in the area!

TotalHasBean · 15/10/2026 14:51

Oh no, that's so difficult! My DD sat for another grammar (Torquay) and got an eligible score for there, but plenty do and then don't get a spot, so no guarantee. Otherwise it's the same school her older sibling went to and that was a pretty poor experience, hoping it will be different for her though! I wonder whether Colyton could be convinced to give any indication of where the kids are on the B list? I know they used to, it seems such a pity not to do that anymore!

i really didn’t like the sound of FSCE exam; still waiting for results but don’t have high hopes. Hope you’re dc is ok, they did their best, well done on sitting the exam and braving that- the nerves and anxiety 😥

11PlusKnuckles · 16/10/2026 08:56

Are Tiffin Boy's 11+ results out yet?

Cocacolathanks · 16/10/2026 22:35

DC got into 1 school but not the other they applied for. Test (FSCE) was the same so very surprising!

Has anyone used Academy11 11+ preparation website. We like its feedback of creative writing but not sure if we get its premium membership. If anyone is using this, please provide honest feedback.

Just wanted some advice really!

My son passed via a headteacher appeal and i'm just in two minds now whether sending my DS is the right decision! He scored 324 which is quite a bit under the threshold (??!!) and I just dont see how that warranted an appeal, i'm actually gobsmacked? It says his school work and creative writing piece was assessed and they passed him but i keep worrying about it. He passed the schools separate entrance exam so in theory, it IS two passes i just can't stop worrying about the Kent result! Also reading here how some children missed by 1 or 2 makes me wonder whats gone on. Any advice? I think i might have a chat with the head and see what she thinks

Rinse123 · 18/10/2026 20:15

Our school HT appealed for DD but unsuccessful so I do think be happy that they felt the schools case supported that your DS is grammar material even if the scores fell short on the day. I would have been ecstatic if our appeal had been successful.

Thank you, we are very grateful. Just keep worrying thats all, it does seem quite a big shortfall and I keep thinking they must have made a mistake!

Cocacolathanks · 18/10/2026 23:20

Can you give any advice about the appeal? My sister is considering appealing for her daughters rejection.

Dadsbabe · 19/10/2026 20:10

Dear parents, anyone can guide me or some advise which is the best online platform for FSCE preparation please
