Next thread. 10 days of exams to go. Looks like we’re all heading into a busy week this week - good luck!

We have last maths paper wednesday.
Then additional maths and textiles next week.

We've lost large chunk of today due to orthodontsist - they insisted couldn't wait another week till done with exams and kept trying to make it last week which was an exam full one - had several back and forths with we've cancelled later appointment and made it week you can't do conversations.

They've put in elastics - which we weren't expecting - and rushed appointment after running late to get a private patient who'd messed up their appointment times in - and we've had tears and stress getting them back in after eating. Have order some tools of amazon to help but she wobbling about going in tommorow for relevant lessons - so we'll have to see. The persistant cold has at least improved.

I think it's DS stressing me out - he's got 4 exams this week A-levels.

Top listening tips:

• Listen out for negatives
• All the options in the multiple choice will be mentioned so don’t just jump to the first one
• No need to answer the written ones in full sentences – sometimes a word is enough
• Be aware that the cognates are unlikely to come up – so they will need you to recognise natacion rather than futbol.

My son said he found aqa paper 2 higher triple a lot more difficult.than the first one. Lots of 6 mark questions . He was a lot more upset than that over english language paper 1 but has said all the other exams have been OK so far. 5 to go. Counting down the days now until the last one D.T.

DS had biology higher today and PE. So a tough day and he seems to have run out of steam. All we have left is Geography on Thursday, Chemistry on Friday then Physics on Monday.

So he does have a real chance to make a difference if he puts the work in for those subjects over the next few days. But he seems exhausted and done with it all!

All caught up now - thank goodness we have moved on from latex testicles

Foundation Edexcel Bio for us today - DS said it was 'fine innit' and we have quite literally got nothing else out of him.

Attempted some Spanish revision this afternoon - he answered the four Spanish questions in English ffs. Spanish top tip - answer the question in the language it is put to you!

He got 50/60 for the reading paper this afternoon though (after i made him go back and re answer the four qs in spanish). So that's hopeful.

Just three left here- chemistry, physics and music… she really needs to get on with the music- lots to go over. Would be silly to do badly in it now just because she ran out of steam. She got an 8 in the mock but only absolutely on an 8… could do with it being a lot more comfortable than that.

For my DD it is the first paper she has given me a meh for. She did say everyone found it hard. But she had told me that for all three sciences in her opinion, it is the hardest topics in the last three papers. I also think it is the ones she is least well prepared for so I’m 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

biology and Latin done!!! Yeah! My son said it was “Good”, there was a question on the menstrual cycle which he thinks he got right. We have gone over that a few times and even I learned things I didn’t know.

spanish tomorrow will be a mess I suspect as he’s done very little but we are prioritising maths and science and going to watch a film he knows well , in Spanish after tea tonight. I can’t face having to persuade him to revise after 2 exams today.

Hope so too! Seems like there aren’t many on Edexcel higher here, so I think with our DC we have 100% having found it hard 🤣 Luckily I’m not having to use that as a justification in a stats exam, but I did tell my DD if everyone found it hard it might mean lower grade boundaries. May not be the case but at this stage, they just anything to help give them the motivation to keep going!

We have history, then Chemistry, then Physics and FM on Tuesday and DONE. But all papers include some challenging topics. It is a long slog of exams.

Dd has maths on Wednesday, then the rest of the sciences and geography
This time next week, most dc will be finished!

😹😹😹!!! Oh, the sheer terror I felt at being blocked posting on Round One!!! Happily you’re here, too! I’m doing the same, catching up, just picked DS18 Lovely Girlfriend up ( her doggie has unexpectedly crossed 🌈 this morning, so hugs a plenty there). I have 38 new ones!! How!!?

Well, DS got not even half way through a maths past paper and I went in to check if he needed anything to find him going through his wardrobe to “ find holiday clothes”…..
another one ran out of steam…. Hopefully tomorrow will find him re- energised 🤞🤞🤞!

When DS looked exhausted and in need of a nap “ I’ll finish the maths past paper tomorrow, just can’t focus at all”, I was supportive but was still “ Yep, but this time, a week today, it will ALL be over”! … For him, every single mark will probably make the difference between a pass or fail..

Noooooo, what is this?? Should DS have something before Thursday Paper 3? I have literally not heard of this before ? ( he did make mistake in previous paper, not realising one of the questions related to fieldwork he’d undertaken. His teacher had apparently never referred to the day trip as “ fieldwork”.. so he didn’t really answer it…. on leaving the exam, his mate said, “ Oh, yeh, that was about when we went to nearest city to do survey at the shops”…) I wouldn’t want him to make a similar mistake 🤷‍♀️🙀! My DS also low about bio 2. Felt 1 was excellent but this was not good, wasn’t sure why. Wants to do it for A level so in summer we’re going to need to look at scenarios. Complicated by diff sixth forms wanting diff grades. Spanish & history tomor, hurtling towards the finish line. Good luck all
