Next thread. 10 days of exams to go. Looks like we’re all heading into a busy week this week - good luck!

I got my first ‘good’ from DS after higher biology and god did we need that after the English last week.

He said there was a question about baby rabbits, it was about genetics and the probability of them having black noses.

Jibberty · 09/06/2025 15:21

PE paper 2 (Edexcel) was ‘a total dream with a 9 marker sent from Heaven’ apparently. Couple of days off now before the final 3 days.

SB1971 · 09/06/2025 15:22

I made DS laugh as he said there was a question about how hormones affect contraception and I said that being in a mood due to hormones makes u not have any sex so that was an effective contraception. He said that would have equalled zero marks and that I was being ridiculous!
I have to take my fun where I can get it during this exam period!

rosemarble · 09/06/2025 15:34

DS says PE was "rlly good".
Now he's guilting me into making curry for dinner. I made curry last night and told him I couldn't be arsed with all the chopping and mixing.
"But I've just done TWO exams".

I actually want to go to yoga and have a lie down but I suppose I'll have my years of that when he's left home (he's my youngest).

ImTerriblySorry · 09/06/2025 16:05

AQA Higher Biology, DC said was okay but not as good as P1, not much on homeostasis at all, seemed more like a Geography paper!

And there was a typo on the dropping ruler required practical question - it said drop the "rule"!

CocoPlum · 09/06/2025 16:33

DS has messaged to say DD has had an almighty meltdown at him (I'm at work). Tomorrow's Spanish and History weighing heavily I think. Now off to try and deal with the fallout when I get in.

OhCrumbsWhereNow · 09/06/2025 16:39

Glad Biology seems to have been good for most today.

Can't quite believe it will all be over in a week's time. Just praying for lovely papers in Maths and Geog this week. I will be ecstatic if they are safely over the line.

gardensparkle · 09/06/2025 16:46

For Spanish reading and listening tomorrow -
Can anyone recommend any good online revision resources??!!

Pinkflower100 · 09/06/2025 16:47

We had bio and pe today and then Spanish and history tomorrow. Really full on! Still maths and chem to go, too. Not sure how history will go tomorrow as barely revised for this tooic. I’m hoping he’ll do a lot of cramming tonight!

We are AQA and are going through past papers from their website online, you can print off listening papers, with mark scheme and then sit through the sound file.

Same with the reading papers.

RattyRevision hates Spanish, because he was lazy and compared to other subjects he's terrible at it, there is a lesson in there somewhere, so getting him to look at a page of verbs is nigh on impossible.

We did look at BBC bitesize which definitely is more "fun" but not sure how helpful.

ExamStuff · 09/06/2025 16:49

Just wondering what everyone has left now? I know some have a busy week this week.

Only 3 exams left here and not much energy left

Maths on Wednesday
Chemistry on Friday
Physics on Monday

frozendaisy · 09/06/2025 16:51

Does anyone know what you need to do with the geography pre-release material, is he supposed to read around what's given or just be ready to analyse(?) and refer to his fieldwork?

QueenMabby · 09/06/2025 16:56

Dd has been freaking herself out with the grade boundary for a 9 in previous years. It’s high apparently and she gets very frustrated with humanities subjects as they’re too subjective on the marking for her!
Chat GPT has apparently just given her a good grade for her Russia practice paper this afternoon but I’m not sure how accurate that is! 🤣

Same plus 2 Further Maths papers. Hard going for those with 2 exams today and 2 tomorrow. 1 today and nothing tomorrow here so lots of Maths revision for Maths and FM. Started early with Art and German which has made the end a bit more spaced out.

QueenMabby · 09/06/2025 17:03

Two tomorrow (Spanish and History) then Further Maths on Thursday and Chem on Friday.

Next week is Physics on Monday, Spanish Tuesday and FM on Wednesday. Then we are done!

Dagnabit · 09/06/2025 17:18

Need to catch up on the many posts but DD said biology (AQA higher) was good and she thinks she did ok. IMedia this pm wasn’t so good as she said the questions were strange but she wrote plenty. She’s a high performer generally but this class has many that just aren’t interested and unfortunately, the teacher who specialises in business studies doesn’t have a clue what she is supposed to be teaching so this subject is the bottom of the pile. The first bit of coursework had to be redone because it was wrong so DD ended up with a pass when she’s more than capable of a distinction 2 so said she can’t get the highest mark now regardless of the second part of the coursework or the exam so think she’s lost motivation with it. It’s such a lottery with the quality of teaching!

This is my subject (not really Spanish!) - have all past papers been covered?

If do it’s worth checking out other boards - once exam format will vary but a listening task is a listening task and vocab will be similar.

Vocab revision is always good. Do you have Memrise? Or check the AQA website and pick a few weaker topics and practise some of the vocab. Also see my top listening tiips

DataColour · 09/06/2025 17:19

Maths on Wednesday, Geography and FM on Thursday and Chemistry on Friday. Then no rest at the weekend because physics and music on Monday (very little done for music so far and it's very tough) and FM on Wednesday. Feels.like a long slog still.
Encouraging that biology AQA was more like a geography paper as it explains why DS is relatively pleased with it. Said PE was very easy this afternoon.
