I think it depends on exam board? I think Aqa Geography issue pre exam resources for Paper 3 but DS is doing OCR and he doesn't have anything in advance 🤔

That is so true about teaching, how the quality can affect both positively and negatively. It’s so terribly your DD has suffered due to this- that’s really 💩 that her coursework was affected in such a way…. I’m not suprised she has lost motivation!! I hope she manages to find a final burst for the end of the line…🤞🤞🤞

DS seems very vague on paper 3 so I’m not much help on that! I don’t think he’s looked at the pre release stuff, he’s lost interest in geography now is is more focused on maths, chemistry and physics as they are his A level ones

Not long, tho, I keep reminding my DS- tho he does finish on Monday with Physics,, he was similar to you, save for FM and Music..🎵. very best of luck revising for them, too.

Oh, I’m really sorry to hear of the day you’ve had! My DS18 has had braces and elastics for couple of years or do, I know the dramas it can cause, but for it to happen NOW is such terrible timing.., and to be so rushed along when there, adding to the stress…..😡.. I’m sorry to hear of your DS A levels stress, too..

I hope the orthodontist 🦷 drama, and exam stress dies doen a little before bed, so you can all get some well earned rest after an utterly crappy day l.. 🤗

history is being done now. Chemistry and physics he’s confident about, although had his wobble this morning. Music he’s just declared he doesn’t care about… hopefully he’ll still make some effort with that one!

DS said "mid" for paper 2 higher biology. He was disappointed that the eye and brain didn't come up after he revised them yesterday. Didn't know how to answer the peat bog question but neither did any of his friends. Was happy that his calculations matched with others. Will be interesting to see the results of this one.

@VivaDixie Spanish top tip - answer the question in the language it is put to you!

Yes that is a good tip! Remember tho that in the R and L papers it’s not about your ability to write in Spanish – more or less any spelling is acceptable as long as it is understandable. And there are only a few qus in TL anyway, just at the end.

50/60 is great tho – is that H? tho even if it's F it’s an excellent score, if he can replicate that tomorrow. Hope everyone is able to show what they know in Spanish papers tomorrow.

My DS says there is nothing he can revise for paper 3 geography as it's all interpretation of source materials. My suggestion of looking at relevant vocabulary went down like a cup of cold sick. Is there any chance he is right or is he just full of shit?

Maybe, AQA give a pre-release booklet (ours is Morecombe bay) think it’s about “energy” (tidal) maybe perhaps read it a while back.

And ours did a field trip to a coast town, did a physical field trip bit surveying groynes as effective (or not) sea defences, it sounds more exciting than it was they did this in January, and did human geography on impact of second homes in the town/village.

I mean it’s sketchy research to say the least and sorting out some sort of comprehensive answers for Thursday will be a struggle.

You can get a bit of information from the revision guide and it looks like some of the questions are about surveys they give you and you answer on those. If you are AQA I would contact school tomorrow and pick a copy up.

And ask geography teacher if they have any field work notes. Just a basic outline would help.

It's foundation but from what I can tell it should be edging towards a 5. I hope so as that's a subject he enjoys. 🙂

Late to the party. Edexcel Bio (why do so few schools do Edexcel?) was 'good'.
I said, "Oh better than P1 then?"
"No, P1 Bio was good too. It was P1 chemistry which was really bad."

So not looking forward to P2 Chem.

Weimar, History P3, tomorrow along with many others. DD feels prepared but just realised the League of Nations was set up in 1920 and not 1925, as she thought. Let's hope that's the only big error in her dates! DS has Spanish. He's very good at Spanish and is currently practising listening on 1.25 speed so it 'feels easy' tomorrow 🙄😬.

@VivaDixie oh a strong grade 5 for sure. 50/60 = 200/240 - last year 160 was a grade 5 in Spanish and in 2019 (no point IMO checking GBs for 2022 or 2023) 163 so happy days.

DD saying similar - she's Edexcel.

I have no clue if she's right or not and cannot face googling and then having a row.

After last week's paper I despair somewhat. Final session with the poor tutor on Wednesday evening so maybe he will cram something into her head.

She has at least returned from school clutching maths papers and a music revision booklet... so hoping they may actually surface from the depths of the school bag.

DD had Biology & PE. Said biology has been a scam. No heart no kidneys no huuuumans. According to her Paper 1 was botany gcse and paper 2 geography GCSE. Not a happy bunny. She hasn’t raved about PE either - something about aggression on a football pitch 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully she’s done enough.

@PrincessOfPreschool those pesky dates!! At least she has the correct century! In a mock DD wrote all the dates as 19 instead of 1800’s!! At least it was a mock mistake.

DD has just 3 left; Chemistry Friday, Physics Monday, Food & Nutrition Tuesday AND DONE!!!

Edexcel Geography here too and DS also saying there’s nothing he can do - not going to query it - he’s got more than enough to do for Maths/FM /Chemistry once Spanish is limped through tomorrow .

19 down, 7 more to go here: History, Chem, Stats, Maths and Geography this week then Physics and Food Tech next week.

Anyone’s DC doing OCR 21st century science papers. DC said Biology was good today.

@NotDonna DS said he had 5 minutes at the end of the last history paper to quickly look through and check he’d got the right centuries - all Elizabeth dates were 15… and all Cold War dates were 19… He said he’s got a few the wrong way round - always the right year just the wrong century! 🫣
